  • Better than expected Better than expected
Started on the 3rd pull after taking it off choke a little. Tested it on my 8000btu a/c first and it worked great - very little speed increase on ECO mode surprisingly. Then I put a 1875 watt hair dryer on it and the dryer ran fine although the generator could only provide 1587 watts ( which is close enough for it's advertised output) for it according to my watt meter. That bumped it up to full rpm naturally. On house current the dryer was pulling around 1850 watts. As far as noise goes, I was surprised how quiet it is. The youtube videos are deceptive, making it sound louder than it actually is. I did notice before starting it up that the generator was test run at the factory because of discoloration of the exhaust tube. I found that reassuring. Overall the quality looks excellent and it runs perfect, especially for a low priced model. Sorry, I can't find anything wrong with it! Update 8/24/20 Checked fuel consumption at a couple of different loads: *Window a/c 8000 BTU's @ 650 watts per hour continuous - 40% of rated load = 6.7 hours per gallon - Eco mode ON. *1500 watt electric heater. 94% load: 4.16 hours per gallon - Eco mode off. Update 6/20/2022 I just converted this over to natural gas and runs great. Full load watt capacity only dropped by 10-15 watts, but surge watts dropped more.. Hard to say how much, but I can tell there is a little more lag time when a 1500 watt load kicks in for engine to recover on eco mode. Nothing serious with what I run and I notice all generators take a bigger hit on surge when converted. It still starts my 8000 but A/c. with no problem. US Carburetion has kits for these. The only thing hard about the conversion is getting the inside nut off and back on the carb again. It would help a lot if you had another pair of hands in order to tilt the engine over on the mounts while one gets a little ratchet in there. I have not mastered starting the unit on NG yet and I might not. I am just putting about an ounce of gas in the tank and start it that way, then when the motor starts to stagger in a minute or two I start introducing the NG. Very easy this way and makes it it much cheaper to run compared to gasoline. All I have to do when the power goes out is start it and bring out of the garage a couple of feet and she'll just run and run. No more hauling gasoline or worrying if the gas is going bad is a huge benefit. Update 6/28/2022 As far as the surge problem goes with the generator running on NG, I discovered that if you eliminate the quick disconnect fittings from the gas line and plug the conversion kit fuel line that goes from the carburetor directly into the regulator thereby eliminating the tiny 3/16 barb fitting that they provide with the kit, it will make the generator run just as well as it does on gasoline. I think this may be why all the tri-fuel generators take such a drastic cut in performance because they don't allow for restrictive fittings. Take a look at the specs on a tri-fuel generator and look what they use for the fittings. Yup, quick disconnects. They have very tiny passageways. The problem is most pronounced when running in ECO mode when a large load hits the generator. Update 4/28/2023 I have 30 hours on it now so it should be pretty will broke in. I decided to clock my gas meter and check the Natural Gas usage at different loads today. It seems to do a little better on NG than on gasoline and not to mention that NG is 8 times cheaper than gasoline! Oil looks brand new yet, too. All ECO on No load idle = 12.82 hours Per cubit foot(PCF). Present Cost of Natura Gas is 45 cents PCF 435 watts = 10.13 hours PCF 950 watts = 7.15 hours PCF 1500 watts = 4.72 hours PCF https://www.amazon.com/DuoMax-XP13000HXT-000-Watt-Electric-Generator/dp/B092CJQ51F/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=3LEV80YSW7N97&keywords=tri%2Bfuel%2Bgenerator&qid=1656459230&sprefix=tri%2Bfuil%2Caps%2C131&sr=8-1-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFGMTNHVUZQQ0pUSkUmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA3NTc2MjMzMTRDVjU2U0hOQU9NJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA1MjExNjYyWDBWUkxUVFJaVDRRJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ&th=1 ... show more

  • Best Value Generator
Earlier in the week I visited a Sam’s Club in order to buy the AI 2000 watt (red) generator. Due to a nasty storm in the area, all of these generators were sold out ($349.97). I checked Amazon and found the same generator on sale for 320.00 so I ordered it. The generator arrived in perfect condition only two days after ordering. Upon unpacking I found the box didn’t contain parallel cables or break in oil. After reading many reviews, I followed the lead of others to ensure proper break-in. First I filled the engine with a non-synthetic 10w-30 motor oil and swapped in a magnetic tip oil filler cap. Non synthetic oil may aid in helping the piston rings seat sooner. I added non-ethanol high octane gas with a cap full of gas stabilizer. I then proceeded to remove the spark plug in order to add just a little spray lubricant to the engine cylinder. I found that the spark plug was way over torqued. I was relieved to see that no thread damage had occurred to the cylinder head. I cycled the piston several times in order to spread the lubricant throughout the cylinder walls. After replacing the spark plug it was time to start the generator. I set the fuel dial to the full choke setting and gave the pull start rope a tug. To my amazement the engine fired up on the first pull. The engine smoked for over a minute as it burnt off the spray lubricant inside the cylinder. I let the engine run in the economy mode for 10 minutes and then proceeded to change the oil. While changing the oil I saw one silver flake in the oil and some very fine black material on the magnetic fill plug. The black material was very minuscule and not alarming. After refilling the engine with oil a second time, I started it and ran it for 30 minutes in economy mode and 30 minutes at high rpm. Then it was time for a second oil change. This time I saw no metal flakes in the oil and only saw a light amount of black material on the magnetic oil cap plug. Again the black material raised no concern for me. After refilling the engine with oil for a third time I attempted to start it. Even though the engine was hot it required a full choke to start it. This time I set the engine to high rpm’s and added a slight power load. I let the engine run for one hour and again proceeded to change the engine oil. Once again I saw no metal flakes and only a minuscule amount of black material on the magnetic fill plug. At this point I changed the engine oil over to Amsoil 10w-30 small engine oil and called it a day. Pros: Impressed by the first pull initial start up. Has an easy access gas drain valve at carburetor. Very quiet operation when set at economy mode. Fan system inside generator housing draws ample air for cooling purposes. Cons: Disappointed the generator wants to be choked every start up, even when hot. Finicky recoil starter rope, doesn’t fully retract. Suggestions: Swap out the dip stick oil filler cap with a magnetic filler cap. Many types sold on Amazon. Break in with conventional oil and switch to synthetic oil after break in. Overall it’s a great value for the money. ... show more

  • Clean power (SINE), fuel efficient, moderately quiet with 240V! Clean power (SINE), fuel efficient, moderately quiet with 240V!
Set name: 7600 Watts - Dual Fuel - Electric
This generator ticks all of the boxes for my home backup power where power outages are common and our [Power Company] is offering rebates on generators and battery systems to residents, expecting more outages in the future. Despite being a lower wattage rated generator than my open frame, it has run all of my home appliances, including fridge, chest freezer, HVAC and even well pump. It is a noticeably quieter than my open frame generator to the point I can actually have a conversation while standing 5-10 feet away. It doesn't hurt your ears like my old generator to stand near it for a short while. The display provides some useful info and all the controls are fairly straight forward. It arrives with a bottle of oil, funnel, a charged starter battery, and a propane regulator hose. It takes about 15-20 minutes to unbox and ready the generator for first use. With the packaging out of the way, you will find the instructions in the manual to open the plastic side panel where you will connect the starter battery. Then on the other side panel you will unscrew the oil reservoir fill plug and pour in the oil. Screw the filler plug back on, put the plastic panels. Choose your fuel. I use propane because it is clean, easy to use, safer for me to use, stores for years, and readily available in my area. This generator is more fuel efficient than my larger open frame generator while making consistent, clean power. My lights do not clicker and everything runs smoothly so far. ... show more

  • Reliable on propane, very good value. Reliable on propane, very good value.
Set name: 4300 Watts - Dual Fuel
10/04/25 update: updated to 5 stars because once I figured out it wants to start sometimes on RUN, it is very reliable. So far a good purchase. Running on propane only. It will charge the house battery, Anker solar generator. Update: I was following the starting instructions when I just casually pull started on the run, and it started. Perhaps on gasoline, this is the method but needs to start on RUN. It is pretty loud as far as camping goes; and a few feet away vibrates the camper. However, it does keep up with the 110v demands so far which are to the converter, charging the house power which is also powering the air conditioning. So, if it keeps working and gets going on the first or second pull, I will say it is an ok purchase. But, it did run house power easily on my camper, and I expect it will be able to keep up with the 75 amp converter that will be running the 12.v air conditioning, plumbing and electronics. I am not saying this is a negative review; it is a noisier generator that does indeed seem to provide good juice to to my camper which is what the pricetag would indicate. I will follow up to upgrade this if it is reliable (I can still start it by the fourth try with my old shoulder and back) and efficiency is good enough to be off grid which is the idea. ... show more

  • It leaked fuel everywhere
Set name: 4300 Watts - Dual Fuel
I received this in a well packaged box and went through the directions and added the provided oil and fuel stabilizer and gasoline. I did a test run and it worked fine. The problem is that after I used the provided pull out handle and wheels to move it to my camping van and loaded it up for the night the next morning my folded down leather seats were drenched in gasoline. I’ve put thousands of dollars into customizing this vehicle so I got sick to my stomach when I found it this way. No it didn’t fall over, it was stable in a fixed position which is what professional campers do. Buyers be aware that either the fuel tank leaked or the mobile aspect caused fuel to drain out of the carburetor and leak into my vehicle that is going to take most of my weekend to properly clean up. ... show more

  • Nice unit with great features
Set name: 7600 Watts - Dual Fuel - Electric
A-iPower 7600 dual fuel. Have only had it for a couple of weeks. Bought for emergency house back up. Replacing a 20+ yr old unit. Much quieter, smaller and lighter than the old unit. Noise is also more mellow, fewer high freqs and more consistent sound. Had a minor problem with the propane hose regulator. Didn't allow flow, gave it a firm but not nasty tap. That got it working. transfer gas to propane and back is very seamless. Everything is working fine. Did the recommended 5 hour break in with varying loads, then the oil change. Have called the company for support and questions multiple times. No problems getting through and getting answers. Wish it had a remote connection for control by a home transfer switch and a second dual 120 v dual receptacle. Quite easy to transport. Unit is heavy but it puts out a lot of power (7600w) for it's weight and size, so that is expected. I don't expect to need it's full output and don't want to as I'm concerned with heat dissipation in the suitcase style, plus with the price point, I didn't want to push it to the max. Happy with the purchase, a lot of unit for the money. Time will tell regarding reliability, my old one is 20 years old and still going (5000w). Hope this one keeps giving a high level of service. Would buy again, power, flexibility of output voltages and fuel, size, noise, inverter technology, electric start. Great unit, great price, great features. ... show more

  • Needed for Boondocking with Travel Trailer
UPDATE 9 March 2022: OK, it's been two years since we got this generator. We used it extensively in 2020 when touring around the western US. It ran everything in our Travel Trailer except the A/C. I installed a softstart in the A/C and it than ran the A/C. I prepped the unit for storage at the end of 2020 per the instructions. Since Covid-19 hit last year it was not used. I am now ready to use it again but have had to ask support for help as it does not want to start; could be the gas is bad or the carburetor has some gumming up in it. Opened it up to put some carburetor cleaner through the carburetor but could not figure out how to get to the carburetor without a major tear down. So, am asking mfg support for help as the local small engine repair places do not want to work on it as it is not a "major" brand like Honda. I'll update after hearing from the support folks. Still recommend it based upon past performance. Since we boondock a lot we needed a good generator. I looked at several and talked to the customer support people about them. When I saw that this model is the same as the higher priced one with the Yamaha engine decided to save the difference and go with this one with the Sensi engine which an exact duplicate of the Yamaha; according to the company all parts are interchangeable between the units. When I got the generator I put in the oil as directed and a small amount of gas, about a 1/5 of a gallon. It took a few pulls to get it started the first time; later starts where on the first or second pull. Hooked it up to the shore power on the trailer and with even the small amount of gas I put in for testing the generator ran for several hours before shutting down. When in the eco mode you hardly hear it running; non-eco mode is certainly louder - need to be several feet away to carry on a conversation. I am very satisfied with the unit. Only con is filling it with oil, not easy to prevent spills; I purchase a kitchen measuring cup and marked it to prevent overfilling. Would be nice to have the manufacturer include a clearly marked measuring cup along with the funnel. Otherwise, I recommend this unit especially at this price point. ... show more
