  • Center Drill Bit
I had never used something like this before. I am putting new hardware on my kitchen cabinets and was worried about precision when I had to pre-drill holes for the hinges. This took away all my concern. They are well built and easy to use. I did a practice run on an old board and found them very easy to use. This will make my project go a lot smoother. ... show more

  • No good
These are the worst bits ever. They all wobble when you use them, a really bad design. They are now in the circular file

  • Works, but ...
Was excited to use them. On the second hole the centering/moving part stoped moving up and down. What I found out is the stroke is very short, and if you push a bit, then the spring james and make it stuck. I guess my expectations are bigger. If you are careful, they will do the job

  • Drill bit very dull, wobbles in the drill chuck and spring doesn't work well
I find this type of product essential for successful installation of hinges, fixtures and door knob parts. Unfortunately I had some issues with this brand of centering bits. The first time I used these they worked great. But the 9/64s drill bit got quite dull after maybe 8 holes in wood. I could undo the allen bolt on the side and replace the bit with one of my own so that would be a remedy. However, inside the bit is a spring that holds the centering tube out as I place the bit over a hole and press down to start drilling. This spring became shortened after use and failed to push the tube out all the way out. I tried to make sure it was clear of sawdust and such but that did not help. I was able to use it after a fashion by holding the centering tube with my hand as I drilled a hole. But this method is possibly not very safe and prone to failure. Furthermore the bit wobbled slightly as it drilled. I am going to replace these with a different, higher quality brand in my tool chest. ... show more

  • Ok but had to do some work on them to use
These are pretty nice but a few issues. There was metal shavings left over from the manufacturing process in the sleeves of 2 of these. Also the sleeves were loose on several. After cleaning the shavings out and tightening them they appear to be quite good. Had they come ready to use I would have given a higher rating. ... show more

  • These bits will not center ANYTHING. Poor workmanship.
A true center bit (these are NOT) will center the drill head directly on the hole needed to secure a screw on the hardware your mounting (like a hinge), the real ones taper down so that will happen. These are bloody FLAT and will do nothing except miss align the hole. The drill bit catches as it pushes thru the hole because there are metal fragments left after manufacture. These may possibly be ok as speed bits without the cover but I doubt it. ... show more
