I expected these pencils to be the same quality as every other "run of the mill" budget friendly set of pencils. That being said, boy was I pleasantly surprised by these pencils. Even though the price is totally budget friendly, these pencils do not belong in that category. These pencils truly live up to the description - these are most certainly a professional grade of pencil. Now there is no reason that every one can't or shouldn't use a good quality pencil. Now that I have stated the best reason to buy these pencils, they are a professional grade at a budget friendly price. Because these pencils perform just as well, if not better than prismacolor premier there is no reason to continue spending that much money on a box of pencils. If I honestly rated pencils on their performance alone, I wouldn't waste a lot of money on the expensive brands. There are most assuradly some negative things about these pencils. Firstly, there are no names or numbers printed on these pencils. Actually, nothing, I do mean absolutely nothing is printed on these pencils. So the first thing I did was print a number on each pencil. Next, though the color range is well distributed in the box, there are only 72 pencils. Because these pencils perform so well, I truly would like to see a larger box of pencils. 72 is just getting started, I want a box of 120 , or better yet, a box of 150 pencils would be ideal. If you don't mind that for the money you get a professional grade of pencils that you will probably want to number so that you can properly ID each pencil. For this price, I personally will happily number my pencils. Before I forget, the paper that comes with these pencils has a nice tooth on it. The paper is not particularly heavy, but it is a fairly decent paper for your colored pencils. You might find it very toothy if you have actually never bought a good paper that is designed for colored pencils. This paper is actually not quite as toothy as other colored pencil papers. It's a fairly good medium grade of colored pencil paper (in my limited opinion). All in all, a fantastic buy! Just for purchasing these awesome pencils you get the bonus of two pads of paper. So if you don't mind getting out your sharpie and numbering your pencils, you just can't go wrong with these professional pencils at a budget friendly price. Have a blessed day, and color on!

First of all I want to say that I really like this set of pencils. I've been using them for a couple of weeks now and I find them to be very good quality. The casings are painted, I found none of them broken, they sharpen nicely to a very fine point, and overall seem to be a quality product that will be satisfactory for adult coloring and even artistic applications. The pencils are labeled with the color names, and a number that would make it easy to order replacements from open stock, but I haven't seen open stock here on Amazon. So it looks like if you wear out a couple of favorite colors that you'll have to purchase another set in order to replace a couple of colors. Not cost effective. Of course, that might be the peerfect opportunity to add a couple of the artist quality pencils to the set from open stock to see how they compare to this budget priced set. The case the pencils ships in is metal, and the plastic trays hold the pencils well. There are four trays in the 160 pencil set, which makes it a little hard to inspect the colors all at the same time. I recommend that you make a color swatch of the set when you get it, which will help you identify the colors more correctly than the painted ends are going to do. I didn't find many of the painted tints that matched the leads in the pencils. That's not to say that the colors aren't good, it's just that the paint doesn't match, which makes it difficult to find the colors you're looking for. The color names aren't much help either. I may be demonstrating my ignorance, but I've never heard of a color named Peru for instance. In summary, if you're looking for a complete set of colors for adult coloring, or you're looking to learn about blending and layering colored pencils, and you can't justify the cost of the artist quality pencils to practice with, then this is a great set to start with. I'm not a professional artist but found these to be well-pigmented and lay down color well. Used in various color books and in mixed media projects. I would recommend for any beginner to hobby artist.
