I got this set for myself to get back into sketching and drawing as I did when I was younger. The set contains a wide range of charcoal, watercolor, metallic and oil based color pencils and basic tools. The entire set is high quality and perfect for a beginner or experienced designer to use for simple sketching and design. It is set in a great case and at a great price for gift giving. This 71 piece art supplies set comes with a nice variety of materials. These include: 12 graphite pencils ranging from 8B up to 5H, 12 watercolor pencils, 12 colored pencils, 12 metallic colored pencils, 12 charcoal pencils which include 4 hard, 4 medium and 4 soft, an eraser, pencil sharpener, sandpaper block, pencil extender, art knife, marker, small brush, and 3 blending stumps. I have to say these are the nicest blending stumps I have ever used. Never before have I owned a pencil extender or a sandpaper block so those were a welcome surprise. Overall, the quality of the materials is quite nice. The case too is solidly built with a easy slide zipper which makes for convenient storage. The sketchpad was actually nicer than I was expecting. The paper is decently thick so you can blend the watercolor pencils without fear of the water bleeding to the next page, although I wouldn't saturate any given spot too heavily. This kit is sure to spark creativity in both young and old, new and experienced artists and would make a great gift.

This set has everything you need to start doing all kinds of art. My teenage daughter who is really into drawing and anything art related, loves this kit. It's really nice that everything is together in a binder type holder, keeping it all together and organized.

Quite a comprehensive set of art tools! I wonder if the knife belongs with this kit. If you're buying this for your young child, I recommend removing the knife before giving it away. If the kid has consistently demonstrated great care with tools, you could also teach them some knife skills before giving this to them. I recommend showing them when to change the blade, how to change the blade, and where to put the discarded blades. (I use an empty baking powder can clearly marked "SHARPS.") I also think that if you're going to include paintbrushes, go ahead and provide a set. This comes with a single, thin, pointed brush. I think it could use a flat brush, perhaps a fan as well. The pencil extender is a great idea!

I picked it up for a niece who is not a beginner but is newer at art and developing skills, perfect for her skillset to develop. And she loves it! It is a lovely gft and the supplies are ample enough to last a good while too. And good quality, well worth the cost. It shipped quickly and arrived in excellent condition too. Perfect for gifting young artists.
