These came neatly packaged and included one pair of socks, one pair of batteries, one charger and instructions. The specifications did not say what material the socks were made out of but they are soft, thick and warm even without heat. They are higher than most heated socks I've seen about 2 inches below the my knee. They are a little big for my size 8 foot however fit perfectly over my pants and under my boots. The battery was heavy at first and a little awkward. The heating wire under the soul of my foot took getting used to but quickly adjusted. I followed the extra tip given to make the socks work more efficiently (click the highest setting let it work for about 15 to 20 minutes and immediately switch to lowest setting to save more battery life). I wear these heated socks under my riding/work boots. Being at a barn in New England it can be cold and very windy. I am usually out for four plus hours at a time and these keep my feet very warm and they don't fall down as I work. ... show more

I got these socks a few days ago. My feet get cold easily, and I thought they could be especially good when I have to be outdoors in the cold for extended periods. What I like: - Operation is pretty straightforward. It is easy to charge the batteries, put the batteries in the socks, and operate the control (button on sock). - The socks are comfortable, even with heat off. They are pretty thick and have the heating element embedded in the front half of the foot. The top slides down a little, but not annoyingly so. The size L fit me perfectly (US men size 12). - They are warm. I wore one around all afternoon with the heat on high (red). For a control, on my other foot, I just wore a normal, old cotton sock. I thought that being indoors with the electric sock heat on high my foot would get hot, but it was just comfortably warm. I then went for a long walk in the cold (45 degrees F), still with the sock on high. It stayed comfortably warm, but only a bit warmer than my other foot. I may update this as I use them more. A couple things I hope to learn are how they do when I'm just sitting out in the cold for an extended period of time and how they hold up after going through the laundry multiple times. Update: I originally questioned whether these are significantly warmer than a good (non-electric) wool sock. That might be true if your feet are warm to start with, but maybe not if your feet are cold to start with. I am sitting here on a very cold day, and even though I am inside, I'm pretty chilly including my feet. I put on one of these socks and it feels really good. Takes the chill off. Riding around in a motorcycle sidecar in the winter gets cold, especially with your feet sitting against the cold metal floor that is getting the full force of the passing air on it to cool it even more. I remember watching that old M*A*S*H* episode where Major Frank Burns is comfy while his tent mates are freezing. They find out he is earing electric socks and the mayhem ensues. When I saw these heated rechargeable camping socks, I just had to try them. Unboxing: These come in a very nice box to keep them safe during the warm months of the year. Inside that box you get the 2 socks, 2 rechargeable batteries, the A/C charger, and the owner's pamphlet. Setup: Plug in the charger and take the two outlet plugs and connect them to the jack on each battery. Charging: After a few hours (I don't know how full the batteries were to start with) of charging, the red light on the transformer turned green. At that point, just unzip the pocket at the top of each sock, grab the connector in the pocket, plug it into the top of the battery, slide the battery into the pocket, and zip it shut. Using: The square button with the round logo on it turns on the socks. Note, you have to press and HOLD that button for about 4 seconds before it will turn on. Once it does, the logo will show red. Press it again to switch to the different temperature settings, Red (hottest), Blue (medium), and Green (coldest). To me the Blue and Green colors should be reversed with Green as medium (like a nice spring day) and Blue be coldest (the color of sea ice), but I didn't design it so.... I used a digital cooking thermometer to test each sock and the heating range by folding the sock over the probe down where the black and gray are at the toe. Sock 1: On the Red setting, it warmed up to 149° F, but then cooled back down to 109° F, and then warmed back up and hovered around 118° F. The Ad page says that Red should be 140-150° F. On the Blue setting, it hovered at 112° F, where the Ad page says it should be 122-131° F. On the Green setting, it hovered at 110° F, which matches the 100-113° F that the Ad page states. Sock 2: On the Red setting, it hovered around 104° F (14° F colder than Sock 1). On the Blue setting, it hovered at 100° F (2° F colder than Sock 1). On the Green setting, it hovered at 94° F (16° F colder than Sock 1). Results: The inconsistency in temps between the two socks was a bit disappointing and explained why Sock 2 had to run at Red setting while Sock 1 could feel nearly the same at Green setting. The circuitry seems simple (battery, switch with I am guessing the regulator, and the wiring down into the sock so I figured they would heat the same. Also, the owner's pamphlet says to just "Press the ON/OFF button to activate", which caused me to think the socks were defective because they would not turn on. Only after pressing and holding the button for about 4-seconds did the socks power up. Based on the poorly written instructions, the lower than indicated temperatures, and the variance between the two socks, I rank the 7.4V Heated Socks (full name on Amazon is "7.4V Heated Socks, Rechargeable Electric Heated Socks Camping Foot Warmer Winter Warm Socks for Men Women-Battery Heat Thick Cotton Thermal Hot Heat Sock for Outdoor Cycling Skiing Hiking, 3 Heat, Black L") with 3-Stars. ... show more

I was really looking forward to having these as I am an avid skier. I purchased a pair of heated gloves similar to these and absolutely love them. However these socks are nothing like that. It has a wall charger that charges both batteries at the same time. The batteries are inserted in a zippered pocket at the upper part of the sock. For me the socks came up mid calf but I have thick caps I was hoping they'd come up a little higher. I wore these socks for 20 minutes on the highest setting (red) and they barely got warm. I kept them on red (as the instructions suggested) the entire time. I tried cycling through the settings and saw the button change color but noticed no difference in the sock heat. You can see in the third photograph, the thickness of the sock and where they wrap around the foot. I can feel the heating element (not uncomfortably) but I know it's there and it barely got warm. I was really disappointed. At this price I expected so much more; these socks just don't deliver . Major fail. ... show more
