It was a very small nail that made a tiny hole in the tread and slowly lost air in the tire. And it wasn't as if the steel belts in the tire had been mutilated - just a small puncture. Of course, the shop wanted to sell me a new $300 tire. So instead I bought this kit and repaired the tire myself and its been holding air and running just fine. I keep an eye on it periodically but so far no bulges or distortion. This kit comes with everything you need to easily plug a hole in your tire and even comes with a nice storage bag. I tried it in an old plug that was leaking. First the smaller one, then the bigger one. Neither worked, so took it to a tire shop to put a conventional type plug in it. It seems it'd have to be a clean, simple hole.

There’s literally nothing to it sturdy handles had a few bend while going in the tire but for the price you get lube for easy penetration a blade valve cores stem caps for 14$ most kits are 30 and don’t even have a blade
