I noticed the AI review quality generator suspects low quality reviews for this item so I'm making an attempt to improve that. I bought the 5pk transparent self watering with grow light seed starter trays. I love them. In fact, I like them so much I just returned to buy another set. I noticed there are SO MANY of these and similar items to choose from so I'll list decision factors for me: Transparent base, allows me to see the water level to know if it's time for a refill. No guessing required. LED grow lights, some of the others have these but it was nice that I only have to plug in one place and can control the setting for all five trays on the same cord. They can be brightness and color controlled, but I can't imagine wanting to. Silicone seedling trays, because I do intend to reuse these year after year and it'll make the seedlings easier to remove. Self watering system with vents to control humidity, anything that makes gardening a bit more autonomous is a win in my book. Owning them I did notice just a few things, not enough to keep me from buying again but enough to keep me from giving 5 stars. The tops and bottoms are only cheap plastic, they're not high precision materials by any stretch of the imagination though they are fairly thick and sturdy. I found that the tops don't fit snugly or solidly on all the bottoms, and it's just a little bit annoying, not at all preventing the humidity control features from working. Probably wouldn't be secure enough to withstand a gust of wind outdoors. I also felt a tiny bit cheated by the lack of an included USB to wall power brick. It's the norm in electronics now, so can't fault the vendor for this, but I am running out of spare wall bricks to supply for all my electronics and wouldn't want to have to buy a new one just for this. Finally, and probably most adversely, the instructions for the timer setting on the lights are woefully insufficient. Like, it says "the timer will work" but doesn't say how. I've had to guess a bit to sort out which setting is 4 hrs, 8 hrs, 12 hrs... and most days I found myself just turning the lights on and off myself. Otherwise, I highly recommend this product and think if you consider the same things I did you will like it too.

These self watering starter trays with lights are excellent for those who love to grow their own pre-plants for gardening. Low cost starter trays hold moisture well and the lights supply the necessary growth. I"ve used these to grow all my own plants from seeds and have had excellent results on plant warming pads.Plants from seeds seem to sprout quickly

Worked great! I was skeptical when the box arrived and it was so small, but it has proven me wrong. It comes with everything needed (except the soil, seeds, and water of course). The design of the self watering feature is well thought out. The seed tray sits above the water line and water is drawn upward by a black cloth that works like a wick, which controls the soils moister level. The lid creates a mini greenhouse that allows condensation to accumulated. It sped up germination as the seed packages said they would take 7 to 14 days to germinate but it only took 3 to 5 days. I did also use a heated seedling mat under the trays. There are only 2 negatives. There is no easy way to refill or add water to the bottom tray without picking up the seedling tray and plants, but with the amount of water that is held refill was not needed for a couple weeks. The other negative is that my seedlings under the growlights grew so quickly that they reach the top in a week. It would have been nice having a higher top. I had to take the top off of my cucumbers and squash, which also removes the growlights, before the plants even had true leaves after germination. But the plants growing big and quickly is not a reason to remove a star.
