Like an earlier reviewer mentioned, I also experienced some scratching on the metal uprights due to the contents shifting in the packaging during handling. I will touch this up with some black paint and it won't bother me, especially since I am using it in a garage and it will get scratched again eventually. Also, there were two machined holes in the metal uprights that did not line up correctly with the pre-drilled holes for one of the two supporting cross-members in the back of the unit. However, I don't think this was critical to my intended usage for the shelf unit, as it still seemed plenty sturdy without one of the cross-members. I could tinker with the holes in the wooden cross member to get it to fit, but not concerned about it for now. ... show more

This rack arrived scratched and poorly painted (see pictures). The metal sides are so lightweight, I wouldn’t trust them to hold much of anything. The inserts for the shelves that you screw into are some form of the cheapest plastic known to man. They don’t even hold tension when you try to screw the bolts in. I’m completely serious when I say do not waste your time with this. I paid $300 with tax and it’s not worth 1/4th of that. This is probably one of the worst purchases I’ve made on Amazon. Over all, very happy with this purchase. It is capable of holding some of my heavier equipment, construction was fairly easy (however the wrench was missing from the parts bag) the price was reasonable.

Pros: Very functional, build quality is good, easy to assembly and shipped in a sturdy box. Cons: No padding between the heavy wood shelves and no padding between the metal frame pieces. Wood shelves have rub marks and the metal frame pieces are scratched and have areas of bare metal showing.
