This Modern Sputnik Chandelier has completely elevated the atmosphere in my dining room. The 16 lights make a bold statement, and the gold pendant design adds a touch of luxury. Its light is soft which create a very warm atmosphere. The chandelier is not very heavy, so it is not difficult to install. It contains all accessories required for installation. The height of the lamp cannot be adjusted. It requires 16 bulbs but are not included. If you want to see the effect immediately after installation, you should purchase the light bulbs in advance.     • Very 1960's look!
This is called a 'sputnik' chandelier and you can understand why when you look at it. It has the feel of the mid-century design aesthetic as we transitioned from dark wood to formica and eames chairs. Note that it appears to me that the fixture that is being shown on this listing is NOT the same one I received. The fixture shown has 6 bulbs and the one I received has 16. Not sure what that is all about. I have other products from this seller and they are uniformly good--nicely and safely designed with a quality build. Installation in an existing box was straightforward--all of the needed parts were included in the box. You probably could install this to a ceiling without available electricity and run a duplexed wire to the canopy if you wanted--but it wouldn't have the same look. This is great over an island as it casts light from both ends. The bulbs (16 required!) are not included and you should choose the ones you buy with care if you wish to dim this. It's no fault of the fixture but many bulbs don't work well with older dimmers. I think I saw somewhere that it is possible to adjust the drop from the ceiling--it is about 30 inches out of the box, but I didn't need to. Good seller, pretty product. ... show more
