  • Small Japanese pull saw that is a pleasure to use.
Very handy saw for both fine and rough cuts. Being a pull saw, it is very easy to start a curf and obtain straight and accurate cuts. Highly recommend for making quick work of smaller cuts.

  • Pleased
I got this as a gift. It looks exactly like the ones I saw in Japan when I lived there.

  • Good for kindling, not much else
Bought this as a cheap little pull saw for cutting dowels and small stuff. What I got was basically a wiggly blade attached to a suggestion of a handle. The handle was so loose it had about 1/4” of play every time I pulled. Ended up putting two zip ties on it just to make it usable, which is not exactly what I’m looking for in a “precision” tool. To be fair, the blade does cut… just kidding, it was awful. And trying to control it with that handle feels like steering a shopping cart with a broken wheel. The handle might be useful as kindling. The rest of it… not much better. Spend a few extra bucks and skip this one. ... show more

  • It's a joy to use.
I highly recommend this saw for crafting newbies like me, amateur artists or just responsible people who've never owned a saw before. I've never needed a saw before but after viewing one too many DIY videos about making cardboard furniture, I suddenly needed a saw to help reinforce my project with wood and or particle board. So far I've cut up a canvas frame made out of wood ( I think) and it was effortless? If I can finish this project in a timely manner maybe I'll post a photo of my attempt. ... show more

  • TPI Doesn't Seem to Match
This is an OK saw. I tested it with some pine scrap and it dug in pretty well. It could be sharper. It does flex and the teeth aren't chewing up the surface when laying flat, so it should do a good job cutting off plugs, etc. The product page indicates that the saw has 14/17 TPI. It looks more like 10/13 TPI to me. I've included pictures so you can judge for yourself. I don't have a lot of call to use a saw like this, so I think this will do just fine, but if I had to replace it, I'd probably look elsewhere. ... show more

  • It's OK
This saw looks similar to other Japanese pull saws I've owned, but it isn't quite as good. This one is made in China of "Japanese steel". Its teeth are pretty coarse and not as sharp but it cuts - and of course, sometimes you need coarse teeth not fine teeth on a saw. It all depends on what you're doing. The handle I like, it's beech and has a very smooth finish. At a price point this low, a wood handle isn't often the case, and if it is on a tool, is usually cheap wood and/or not finished well. But what I don't like is the handle very slightly wiggles. It wasn't noticeable at first when I picked it up, but when examining it, I thought to hold the blade and wiggle the handle, and it does. It isn't enough to affect its functionality, because you could hear a little clicking sound, but the saw still works. The blade has a nice hook for hanging which was a good idea, because these are tricky to store with teeth on both sides of the saw that need protection. The blade flexes, not as much as some others, but I don't mind that and can see that being useful. Sometimes I need a saw with less flex but that's more sturdy, other times the reverse. Overall, it's not a bad saw, just not as good as the original IMHO. ... show more

  • Nearly worthless
For the price I wasn't expecting much. What I received was far worse. The rivets holding the blade in the handle are loose and there is no way to compress them further, so the blade moves around inside the handle. But more importantly, the teeth aren't much sharper than the serrations on some butter knives. Other than the size (which is why I bought this), this is worthless. ... show more
