Honestly I don't know what the designer could do to improve this toy without making it significantly bigger. I'd match the number of sides to hours on clock (1, circle, 2, heart, 3, triangle, etc). I'd have a drawer to stash the worms. I gave it 4 stars because I wasa little disappointed by the size. It mke the keys a little hard to hit individually. I plan to look up the modality I recognized it as the same scale as the pulp fiction surf guitar song. Our son has a blast playing with this when he finds it. This is super cute and I love that it has so many engaging parts to it but I just didn’t think about all those little pieces. My 1 year old put the worms where the carrots are supposed to go then I have to shake the whole thing upside down to try to get them out then he does it over and over again. Super cute but I just wish there was a string attached to each piece so you know where it goes and it can’t be out or lost in the wrong spot or lost under the couch for that matter. My daughter LOVES this toy. So happy we got it. Only issue is if objects are dropped in the bigger holes they're a little hard to get out again. We shake it upside down and the generally works. It does bother me that some of the worms are made smaller than the holes they're meant to set in and they just fall through... my daughter loves using the magnet bird to get them out so that's disappointing but over all it's cute and vibrant and well made. The small worms, if the child puts them in the larger carrot holes, are hard to get out of the box. The magnets do not work unless you can get to the top of the worm. The xylophone feature does not sound like the correct scale. It is cute and colorful, just not as good as I expected it to be (being a Montessori toy). ... show more

As I suspected, my daughter loves this toy. The pounding game is great because they "disappear" without any force but as one side goes down, the other side pops back up, so no flipping it over like the traditional one with the pegs. The musical side is fun. It's not quite accurate scale notes like one might expect but I actually enjoy it because it makes for unique sound. The carrots are easy in and out. She hasn't quite figured out the magnetic bird and worms yet but she thinks it hilarious when I use the bird to catch them for her and wiggle the worm around for her until she snatches it off the beak. The gears spin easily and the frog clocks are cute. The only thing I didn't think of when purchasing is that the worms are obviously smaller than the carrots so it's become a more fun game for her to put the worms in the carrot holes and say 'uh oh' when they fall inside... so then I have to spend some time shaking the box around until I can get them to fall back out, but it's not a big deal. The bird magnet is helpful when you can't get them to line up right. I got this as a first birthday present for my daughter and she absolutely loves it. We have only had it for about a month but it seems pretty well made and I think it will last a long time. Oh! The other thing I really enjoy is that it comes with two hammers and two mallets so two people can whack at it at the same time which is great for teaching and playing together.
