It says ages 6-12. I have 3 boys 2,4,6 and the 6 year old was very excited to get this kit. He loves building things and playing with misc electronics. I thought I'd give him a try to do it by himself. We picked the 6 wheeled car and I laid out the instructions and left him starting on step 1. He tried for about an hour, failed to make it past step 1, and gave up. Next day we assembled it together (him finding the parts, me assembling) and it took us about 45 minutes to assemble it. Why did he fail by himself? Lots of little tiny screws and fiddly work. Just getting a tiny 4mm screw on a screwdriver is challenging for a small kid, let alone threading it into tiny plastic holes. When we assembled together I had him finding the parts, measuring them to make sure they were the right size and handing them to me. The 4 year old loved watching, the 2 year old was excited but not sure why. The idea of the kits really excited the 6 year old though. He wanted to make it work, he just couldn't by himself. Once the car was completed (BTW there is an on/off knife switch in the AA battery compartment, it's built in), all 3 kids loved watching it drive around. It's probably not going to last more than a few hours of play, and definitely won't handle being stepped on, but you could reinforce it or repair it pretty easily if it breaks. Some general knowledge of how gears and mechanical parts works are helpful while assembling so you understand some things the instructions might be vague on. Here's what I recommend * Plan on assembling together. Great fun for grandparent or parent to do it with the kid. If your kid is 10+ they could probably do it on their own. * Get a magnifying glass if you're over 40. The photos are small in the instructions, the parts are all small, it's very detail oriented work. At 43 I found the magnifying glass very helpful. * Like most projects with instructions be patient, double check the photo and written instructions with your work. The instructions are not vague, but they're not super detailed. Like car mechanic level instructions, they assume you have basic knowledge. * Don't be afraid to go back and redo things if needed. It teaches kids that everyone makes mistakes and you just fix it up and move on with life. Overall I think this kit is a great buy. I especially liked that each project came packaged in it's own little bag, and there were no shared parts (IE there's 6 AA battery holders instead of using one and swapping it to each project). My kids loved it and we're going to assemble one every weekend to space out the fun a little.

I was a bit anxious when I first saw all the little parts that came with all these buildables, but was quickly surprised at how easy it was to piece together. There are 6 total robots to build. All came in separate labeled bags, we separated all the instructions and placed them inside each corresponding bag. This cut down the anxiety almost immediately as there aren't that many pieces in just one bag. I put the others aside for another day. The instructions were clear and consise with images to follow. Love that the little screw driver that comes with the kit is magnetic for the tiny screws. We used small paper bowls to separate all the pieces as so not to lose them during the build. All in all in took me and my very techy inclined 5 y/o grandson about 45 minutes to complete. He was ecstatic about what HE built. Loved seeing his self confidence and little mind working. Love how simple these were

My 6 year old grandson struggled a bit with this, but with some minor help, put this together successfully and has had so much fun with it. 6 different vehicles makes for literally hours of fun and learning, and subsequent play with the cars he built. He learned a lot and was so proud of himself!

This toy set is the best gift! My kids have a blast while learning new things. My 6-year-old absolutely loves this kit! There are six different projects, like a plane, tank car, and even a robot that avoids obstacles. Every time the robot moves, my kid gets so excited! The instructions are really clear, and all the parts are safe, so they can do it on their own. It’s fun and educational at the same time—totally worth it!
