It doesn't seem to be fireproof to me and I hope I never find out due to a fire. I have an older safe that is very small that is fireproof and it is made very different. You're not going to get the same fire protection that you would from a more expensive safe, but adding fire protection document bags (sold separately) adds a bit more protection. Very fast delivery, easy combination set up. There is a light, but no instructions on how to operate it. Also it came with an external battery box, with no explanation. Other then that, it's a good product at a reasonable price.

Cheap alternative if all you want is to keep little hands out... but don't waste your time if you have anything of real value that needs to be kept safe. This is junk! Although the description says Fireproof/Waterproof I would not trust it! This 6.1 cu ft safe is lightweight and cheaply made. The interior compartment is a waste of space as the door for this is cheap plastic! It is also supposed to have another "hidden" compartment on the floor of the same but did not! Bait/switch?? The reset button was broken so we had to take the inner panel off to get to the mechanics and manually press the reset button to set out security code. The cheap interior light was also broken which we found inside the inner panel. I would have returned it had my husband not torn and thrown away the boxes it came it. Very disappointed with this purchase - Buyers remorse and wasted money! ... show more

It arrived with no damage, instructions were clear and once I attached the shelf with a set of bolts / I was up an running I’m putting silicon putty in the 2 mounting holes on the bottom of safe, will use the rear holes to mount to wall (then use some silicon caulk to make them more waterproof). It’s those 4 holes and main door (there is no gasket just a single round bumper to keep it from slamming shut). I imagine if it was just sprayed with water contents might be ok. The walls are just a single steel alloy sheet, no insulation or barrier to fight of fire and heat. Contents will probably melt but paper might survive an hour(?). I’ll look into some fire resistant document cases to hedge bets. $149 metal box that locks - good enough ... show more
