  • Designed for DIYer at home - Not for real repair shop frequent use
The instructions presume an expert if proper use. What is NOT mentioned: There is a spool of teflon tape to enable tightened hoses. Wrap tape around the ports on the manifold before attaching hoses. Wrap tape around the Low/High port adaptors prior to screwing into the hoses. If NOT using the yellow hose, you MUST attach it to the back of the manifold tightly or else gas escapes through that yellow hose (obviously since it is the vacuum connection). Opening both of the manifold gauge handles at the same time becomes a simple pass-through from Hi to Low ports ... and thus an error in usage (and rather unsmart). Check YouTube videos for how professionals use this device. Otherwise, the unit is high quality for this price break. UPDATE 7/6/2023: Do NOT open either side valves on the manifold unless evacuating with yellow hose to a vacuum gas-recovery pump or using the yellow hose for charging. NEVER EVER open both gauges at the same time. Always close both only finger-tight (to not ruin the brass seats of the valve. If only trying to diagnose A/C, keep both valves on the manifold CLOSED. ... show more

  • Worked perfectly and great value
AC gauges came with all parts advertised, easy to assemble hoses into manifold, and wound up using the R134a twist on tap. The low and high pressure connectors worked connectors worked perfectly. I was able to check our 2015 ML350 pressure and added about 6-ounces of R134a refrigerant, just enough once cooling restored. Quality gauges and great value. ... show more

  • Got the job done
I bought a motorhome and the AC didn't work...blew hot air and the compressor wouldn't kick on. I already had a vacuum pump from a wood stabilizing kit I bought, so I figured an inexpensive gauge set would at least help me do some initial troubleshooting. This did the job, and even let me complete the repair, but not without some frustration. For the vacuum test portion of the project, it worked flawlessly. But when it came time to load the refrigerant, I had two issues. One, it doesn't have a bleed valve, which is needed to purge the air from the yellow line so that you are loading just refrigerant into the system. I worked around this by partially unscrewing the yellow line where it connects to the gauge, but it didn't work very well. The other frustration was that the connections kept loosening. My understanding is that they are only supposed to be hand-tightened, as they use a gasket to establish the seal, and I do have good hand strength. Usually I have to be careful not to over-tighten things. But when loading the refrigerant you have to tip the bottle, and it seemed like any movement of the bottle would either cause the connection at the bottle to loosen or would convey movement through the line and loosen the connection at the gauge end. At the end of the day, I got the refrigerant loaded and the AC works fine, but it wasn't without some difficulty. Probably just a case of getting what you pay for. ... show more

  • Good set of guages
Good set of guages. Only con is that it doesn't have a place to put the hose ends when not using. Other than that, great

  • Good for the money. A couple minor shortcomings.
The manifold worked fine out of the box. No apparent leaks, but the can tap didn't work on standard self-sealing 134a cans, so I had to go buy a tap at the local auto parts store. That took one of the adapter fittings in the kit, so no drama there. Aside from that, the only real shortcoming is the lack of a purge capability on the yellow utility hose. Without a t-fitting with an exposed schrader valve, there's no ability to purge the feed line before introducing refrigerant, so a little air will get into the system. Also, due to the fittings on the end of the utility line, introducing things like dye into the system are messy. I pulled the entire line off and poured it into the manifold side of the line. That way, it doesn't all run out around the fitting neck. Minor grievences overall, but a purge fitting would be nice. You get what you pay for and they do the job. ... show more
