Found out the hard way that our home builder used cheap plastic shelf pins in our kitchen cabinets - loud, scary, and broken glass everywhere :( I immediately searched for something better and found these. They fit perfectly and hold the cabinet shelves without worry of depredation like plastic. So yourself a favor and check your kitchen cabinet shelves. If you have plastic pins, replace them immediate with these!

I used these for a slightly different application compared to their intended use. I was building a custom bed-frame and utilized premade steel slats that are made for this very purpose (avoids the need for a center brace). These pins act to prevent the steel slats from sliding and potentially falling off the rails. On a previous build I just used screws but the metal on metal contact occasionally resulted in some noise. These pins however have these rubber caps which offer some protection from that and they also end up looking more finished and professional. For installation I used the 5mm bit from a Kreg Jig cabinet pin hole guide. You can find that jig here: https://amzn.to/4fRk9UK or the replacement bit here: https://amzn.to/4waPZSN if that is all you need. In the pictures I provided, I was free-handing the 5mm bit and the cuts were super clean, the pins fit very snug and the taper on them promoted a nice locking effect which means they don't seem likely to lift. So for my application these really are near-perfect and an excellent value. For their traditional use of shelf pins, these seem great, and true to size. The grippers would work very well to grip glass or wood with a clearcoat finish. Very pleased with this find.
