Description

Rocky Mountain Clay's BMX (Best Mix) Cone 6 Pottery Clay is an all-purpose mid fire stoneware clay that is perfect for wheel throwing and hand building. It ranges in firing color from a soft white to a light gray color. This smooth, white throwing body is easy to use and accepts a wide range of glazes and underglazes. With an optimum percentage of clays and raw materials to achieve a silky soft white (no iron spots) clay, BMX can be fired between Cone 5 to Cone 7 but is achieves best results when fired at Cone 6. When fired in a reduction kiln atmosphere, BMX fires white to a light, stormy sky gray. Mixed by Rocky Mountain Clay in Denver, Colorado.

This is a great clay with a pretty white once fired to cone 6. It has no grog or paper so it’s best for small to medium size products. Does dry quite quickly in a heated house during the winter.

I'm new to pottery and I love this clay. It is smoothe and ready to work with! I recommend to everyone! It dries fairly quickly, so i have been able to reuse the clay a day or 2 after adding too much water.

Without knowing what happens to B-mix clay when it freezes, I assumed the clay was defective. Company stood behind the shipment and refunded my money. They are to be commended. Most of the country went into a deep freeze when I ordered.
