Just what I need for my chickens! I love that it can be used in a plastic bucket. Functions as it should. I’ve already had 20 degree mornings and it kept the water from freezing. This is a must have for northern Michigan winters. The size is perfect for a five gallon bucket and it’s very durable. Price is reasonable and definitely worth the peace of mind it provides. I use 5 gallon buckets with side nipples so that my chickens don’t get frost bite wattles like they do in traditional waterers. The water also stays perfectly clean this way. I came back and bought two more after trying this out. I have three separate flocks and now no worries for the coming winter.

I’ve ordered 6 of these and have had to return two already because they quit working within a very short time. So far it’s helped with keeping the horses water from freezing. The one I just replaced worked until we had another Michigan overnight winter. My stallions luckily didn’t have ice but I did have to get all new electrical extension cords. For whatever reason the quality of these is not what I would like. I shouldn’t. Be going out and finding ice again, so durability is an issue and it needs to be addressed along with quality. We have 3-4 more months of winter and I don’t want to have to keep replacing.

Bought this water heater for my chickens 5 gallon water bucket. Works pretty good. It keep the water inside unfrozen/warm even in negative degree weather. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars and not 5 is because even though it keeps the water inside unfrozen/warm, it doesn't help to keep the little cups outside the bucket that they drink from unfrozen l, even Ruth the water inside is warm. I would still buy this again though.

I bought the 500w for my 50 gal water trough for my horse. This thing is amazing! It’s weighted doesn’t float around, stays in place you put it. It’s thermostatic which I love. Drop it in the water, that’s it very easy to use. It’s made pretty sturdy, I feel like it will last a long time. The temps here has been in the teens, this unit keeps the water temp like bath water. Overheated, had the water steaming hot and then just quit working. It would trip the breaker the second it was reset. Tried other items on the electrical line that all worked fine without tripping the breaker just to make sure the issue was not in thr breaker
