Description

We offer raw green unroasted coffee beans for the home roaster who enjoys roasting their own coffee beans at home. Unroasted coffee beans must be roasted prior to use for brewing. Roasting coffee can be a very simple process, or it can be a real work of art created by an experienced artisan. The roasting process has always been a mysterious kind of thing considered to be a closely guarded process of proprietary roasting profiles kept only for the privileged artisans “in the know” with sophisticated commercial roasting equipment. In recent years this has changed substantially with the new wave of home coffee roasters trying their hand at the roasting craft. They have learned many of the tricks of time and temperature modulating their own flavor profiles creating their own works of art in the cup. Coffee is a universal drink loved by many people, some for-taste others seeking the caffeine but when you roast it at home it takes on a whole new appeal. Your coffee quest becomes an intensely personal adventure where you are in control of many aspects of taste results. Roasting is truly a rewarding experience where the more experience you get the better your coffee tastes. Basically, you heat the beans to around 400F to 450F in about 10-15 minutes time period. Once the beans reach your desired doneness or “brown” simply remove them from the heat and cool to room temperature as quickly as possible. After this you can use them to brew coffee! When you buy our beans, you can rest assured that you are getting fresh current crop beans from some of the best coffee plantations in the world. We believe that the best taste comes from premium high-altitude growing regions. We source our beans with great care, ensuring that the farmers are paid fairly for their time and product. When you buy our beans, you are supporting the communities in which beans were grown ensuring equity for all. Invest in our premium high-quality beans, taking your roasting experience to the next level!

  • Great Espresso Bean!
Flavor Name: Dark Chocolate Earthy Caramel Size: 5-Pound Northern Italy
The media could not be loaded. WOW! If you like Espresso that hits like a Mike Tyson uppercut, this is the bean for you dang. Sweet, and powerful just like my grandmother. NO really this bean is great, I like to roast it until 2nd crack and go for another 1:30 nice dark bean that gets very oily. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. ... show more

  • Good company, though this Peruvian offering isn't my favorite.
Flavor Name: Rich Earthy Tobacco, Chocolate, Br... Size: 5 Pound (Pack of 1)
While I'm not crazy about the flavor profile of these particular Peruvian beans, they are high quality, well sorted, and contain all of the information you could possibly want about origin- elevation, varietal used, etc. I'm very impressed with the freshness, sorting, and transparency regarding the origin. This particular bean is just a bit boring for my taste. While I won't be ordering these Peruvian beans again, I'll definitely try some other offerings from the same company. The flavor of these beans is by no means bad, I just find it to be indistinct. However, it does work quite well blended with other, more flavorful beans. Recently I did a half and half blend of these with a very fruity and floral bean from Malawi and brewed them with a French press, and the results were excellent. ... show more

  • Good price, less consistent beans
Flavor Name: Rich Earthy Tobacco, Chocolate, Br... Size: 5 Pound (Pack of 1)
It's a decent value but I had to pick out a lot of greens before roasting and a lot after for unevenness. They seemed kind of dry and hit markers a lot faster than I was hoping. Took a few batches to find a profile that didn't scorch half left the rest raw. Solid flavors though, just extra work compared to other brands I've previously bought. ... show more

  • Not bad for the average coffee drinker
Flavor Name: Rich Earthy Tobacco, Chocolate, Br... Size: 5 Pound (Pack of 1)
Homeroaster of 2 years here. I have only purchased from one other vendor and those beans were top quality grade a with zero blemished beans that i noticed out of 25 lbs. I was a little hesitant after reading a few reviews but these are pretty decent beans after all. There are a couple blemished beans here and there, approx 5-10 per 8oz. Imo this is a non issue. These beans were smaller overall than from my other vendor, nonetheless they are pretty uniform and so roast evenly for me in my hand crank stir pop. The burlap bag is cool too. If you're not a stuck up coffee snob who must have absolutely perfect beans, these are great! Happy roasting! ... show more

Flavor Name: Rich Earthy Tobacco, Chocolate, Br... Size: 5 Pound (Pack of 1)
The package when received was in USPS bubble bag and burlap interior. The packaging was sufficient and expected. The beans are of good quality. When I roast in the oven I roast at 500 degrees. I try first at exactly 7 minutes. This is a very light roast. What I find on this roast is that there is no discernible flavors, It is very mild and does not offend in any way. I try next at 7.5 minutes and I sense much greater flavor. Lastly I try at 8 minutes and the beans to me are considered burnt. I will at this point continue to purchase beans from Smokin'Beans. ... show more

  • Love it
Flavor Name: Rich Earthy Tobacco, Chocolate, Br... Size: 5 Pound (Pack of 1)
I've been into roasting on and of for over 10 years, for the last couple years I may have only bought pre-roasted coffee once. I use a Behmor 1600 drum roaster, which I can get the perfect roast with. I tend to prefer a medium or light-medium roast with most beans, I dont care for the bitterness of dark roasts. I've always tended to prefer beans from Latin American origins, and these beans are great. I've ordered from Smokin Beans multiple times always fast shipping, good prices and consistent quality. ... show more
