I bought this for a budget friendly way to bind a few workbooks I printed as binding machines are very expensive. It is very easy to use but it does take while, especially if you have a lot of pages. It punches 5 holes at a time and I would say you can probably punch 4-5 pages at a time. It has clear markings showing you where to line the paper up and punches through the pages easily. The coils are easy to put in after punching the holes and the finished product looks great. It’s very handy if you have a small amount of pages to bind but probably not the best option for bigger things. Worked perfectly for my needs so I’m happy with it.

This is my first time doing anything like this, any sort of binding work. I wanted to make custom coloring books for my 5 kids. This was perfect! Each coloring book was 30 pages plus a clear plastic front and a thicker black plastic backing. This was able to cut through the plastic pieces. For the paper, I was able to do 5 pages at a time, more comfortably about 4. Easy to use. I did a test sheet of paper first which I highly recommend. The first few punches left a brown/black residue on the paper, I presume oil. But by the end of the test piece the residue stopped. The spirals that came with it easily held all the pages without issue. I don’t have any of those special spiral pliers, I just used household wire cutters and nose pliers to secure the ends of the spiral - worked out great! I think this is wonderful if doing small periodic projects and don’t want to spend too much doing so.

Arrived used looking black marks over it, one of the holding pegs kept falling back in and then popped out and this is with one use on the peg. And with the coils it comes with after crimping it still wants to come off. Returning item

This little punch is pretty mighty! It takes about 4 punches to do one pass over a A4 or letter size page (it can do 3-4 at a time), so if you're doing spiral binding in bulk a fancier machine is probably worth the investment, but for doing a few things it's perfect. I bound a Japanese puzzle book that I bought in PDF, and it worked great, plus a few other small booklets with puzzles. This punch was even able to get through a 20 mil cover sheet, although I wouldn't want to do it super often. The 3:1 pitch is accurate - I used some other 3:1 pitch coils and they fit perfectly. The only drawback is that the little alignment posts don't really stay up very well - because the punch alignment goes both ways, there is an alignment post on both sides that needs to be raised or lowered accordingly - their placement is perfect, but they don't lock into place when raised so they tend to drop back down. It's a very minor nitpick, though ... for the price the functionality you get is worth it. It is worth noting that the instructions are only on the box, so make sure to not toss it.

This binding hole punch tool and binding coil set is an excellent addition to my book making and paper craft tool chest. I was a little doubtful about whether the hole punch would be able to make a uniform set of punches for binding. I followed the instructions and it created a perfectly aligned and spaced set of binding holes. Being able to use a hand size compact punch instead of a large size binding punch is a game changer for me. The compact size means it won’t take up valuable tabletop space. It was fairly easy to follow the instructions and have a cleanly punched and professional looking finished product. I easily punched through 4 sheets of copy paper at once. The punch even has a little chamber underneath to capture the chads so they don’t go everywhere and it is easy to open and empty. I wish there were some instructions on how to finish off the coils so they don’t back out, but that is a minor issue and I’m sure I can find info on that somewhere. One note: the punch has some lubricant on it and it is probably best to punch some scrap a few times if you don’t want oil stains on your first set of papers around the holes. One image shows this issue. After several punches this went away. Overall I find this to be an excellent product and a good choice for casual binding needs. The quality of the punch tool and having a large number of binding coils to get started makes this kit an excellent value. I highly recommend.

I ordered this square 3:1 pitch hole punch to add to my collection of journaling supplies. I didn't realize there were two different sized wire bound pitch sizes. I have a punch for the 2:1 pitch but found myself needing 3:1 pitch sometimes. I didn't want to spend a fortune buying another big binding machine so this punch seemed perfect. If you just need a square hole punch, this is a handy size to store and take on the go. I was able to get it to punch 5 pages but needed significant force on the punch to do so. I think 3-4 pages is a better idea. There were no instructions in the box but there are very good and clear instructions on the product page. The line guides for lining up the paper were mostly accurate although a practice page or two is recommended. The pop up paper guides to align the holes worked perfectly. This punch comes with a set of plastic spiral binding so you can get started without needing to buy supplies. If you want wire bindings, you will need to purchase your own. However the bindings make this set a really good value. Overall I think this is a great little punch that would be perfect for occasional use. It's exactly what I need to add more pages to some existing journals.
