Researched EDC backpacks exhaustively. Obsessively. Had never heard of 511 before even though I have a military background. Ordered the Rush 12 2.0 in coyote brown and...when I took it from the box and removed the protective bag, I could immediately feel the durability and quality. Plus, the look and aesthetics of this bag had me excited. Some of you know what I mean. You want to love the look of your bag. You're going to carry this everywhere everyday and you care not only about function, but also fashion. This bag is stiff, so it stands up well, which is very important to me. The two front pockets are SO perfect. I wish every bag had two front pockets like this. There are two main downsides to this bag that keep it from being perfect. 1) It's a bit small. I think it's a 24 liter bag, which really is not very big at all, and 2) The laptop compartment is inside the main compartment, which makes getting the laptop in and out a real PITA if you've got the main compartment filled. If you remove your laptop many times through the day, this might be a problem for you. I'm using a Dell Latitude 5000 series 14 inch and it is probably the biggest laptop that will fit. It's much more suited to a 13 inch or a Surface Pro. But besides that I so love this bag. Looks amazing, ultra durable, pockets in the right places. ... show more

I’ve gone through a lot of backpacks looking for the best one and I think I may have found it. It’s really durable and the material is thick and doesn’t fray or wear out. Lots of strap loops all over outside so I can connect whatever I want. I have an AirTag connected on one side of the top handle and a carabiner on the other side of the handle to connect my yeti to while I’m walking around campus. That’s the only thing I’m missing; a side pocket for my water bottle. Other than that I love this thing. The straps are super comfortable cause they have this connecting collar thing between the left and right strap that rides on your upper back/shoulder area and it feels like it’s taking weight from the bag and redistributing it around my whole shoulder area. I like the Velcro spots so I got my name and the US flag as my first two patches. The black color is a really dark black which I like. Word of warning though. If you have a larger laptop you will have some difficulty getting it in and out. I have a 15” dell and it’s kind of a pain and that’s like the absolute max that will fit in the laptop sleeve area inside the bag. If you aren’t using the laptop stowing sleeve area then it’s easy to go in and out. I didn’t want a bag that was too big cause I only have to take my computer and iPad to school everyday cause I do everything digitally so having a slightly smaller bag than my previous one is perfect. The bags not small though. Can still fit plenty. My last bag the the Incase city backpack with the ability to extend a little for more room. It wasn’t too big but it was bigger than my bag currently. Love the backpack, and not only was it cheaper on Amazon than some local stores that carry 5.11 gear, I received it quickly. The 24L backpack is about the average backpack size though it seems to have more room. Well thought out compartments and the CCW pocket is perfect. Very well made, and carries more comfortably than any regular backpack that I’ve had. It feels like it hugs my shoulders well vs feeling like it’s slipping off or riding loosely. ... show more

I love this bag! It’s designed allows you to use the most of its storage space! Previously I was using the Direct Action dragon egg, a more expensive bag, and yet this bag is more comfortable and feels like it can fit more gear inside because of the clam shell that opens all the way up! My only complaint is there are no strap management devices other than the elastic but it’s not great so I used Velcro ties to secure them. Bonus: This bag is very comfortable with my plate carrier, it doesn’t ride low on my back! ... show more

There are pockets galore on the bag. A lot of thoughtful design features such as a dedicated CCW pocket, a laptop pocket, a soft pocket for your sunglasses and it's hydration ready. There are side compression straps and bottom attachment loops for a bedroll etc. The shoulder straps are very cushy, same for the back which has a rigid plastic plate in a hidden pocket for support and MOLLE straps all over. There's also a Velcro area for a name and an emblem. There is a chest strap but no hip strap, so it's not super useful. However there are attachment points for a hip belt of you choose to add one. All in all for the price, it's a solid buy and I look forward to using it. The only thing out of the box I wish it had was a water bottle pocket (but it IS hydration ready, so it's not a huge deal. And you can add a MOLLE accessory if you want to). I'm impressed and happy with my purchase. ... show more

This is my fourth 5.11 tactical bag. Not because any of them needed to replaced but because I know I'll get a quality bag for the different tasks I have. It has plenty of storage compartments and the zippers are very durable unlike other backpacks I've used in the past. The thick straps help distribute the heavy weight they're able to hold as well. I bought this and immediately took it on a multi day adventure deep into the Bankhead National Forest. Discovered that the plastic piece inside the back that's supposed to keep it rigid or something was digging into my back uncomfortably, and hated it at first. Then I managed to slide that out and the pack became viable. I crossed streams where it got wet, pushed through dank and muddy caves, gave the bag a repeat beating for days in the wilderness. It suffered no damage for all the abuse, the zippers held with repeated use, various weights and muddy and wet items went in and out of it with zero issue, and I now fully trust this bag. My only gripe is that it doesn't have a hip belt attachment, but that's on me because spending 8+ hours hiking a day I maybe should have had a bigger model that boasts that. But I wanted this smaller model based on the size of my gear load. Let's just say I'm comfortable for about 4 to 6 hours at a time on the move and it is a great pack I'd recommend to anyone. ... show more
