This brick matches the previous replacement bricks I have on hand - in size. In weight, however, it's a different story. Thes bricks are a little less than half the weight of other bricks I've used and am using. In the pic, this brick this the one on the right - the other two I'm currently using are on the left. It will be interesting to see what the heat retention will be given the big weight discrepancy. I've always been under the assumption that the heavier the brick, the more heat it will retain and subsequently release. Until then, the benefit of the doubt. ... show more

    • The fix for fire failures
The wood stove had a wire grate bent to fit. That was difficult to build a fire on. I decided to get a real fire grate. It's a lot easier to build a fire upon. The downside is that the embers fall through the grate. As you recall, the fire triangle requires fuel, air, and heat. When the embers fall through the grate, you lose heat and the fire goes out. I had tried clay tiles. They broke under the heat. Broken tiles are in the way when removing ash. The fix is fire bricks. The bricks go in the space under the grate and the embers can't fall very far. ... show more

    • Perfect For Putting Table Top Firepits On Patio Table
We have a couple small tabletop "fire pits" that burn alcohol and get very hot on the bottom. We needed a solution to buffer the heat and not damage the patio table, and these fire bricks are perfect. They are lightweight and easy to put together in different patterns to fit under warm or hot items, especially if you have a glass top patio table, or side tables (which we do). They are also suited to placing a large casserole back dish (can you say lasagna!) on the table without any concerns about thermal shocking the glass table top. These are not for building a kiln, per the seller's notes, but they are great for fireplaces, and other uses where you don't have heat as high as kilns produce. ... show more

The bricks are lightweight and have a strong odor. They crumble when you rub against them. I ended up not using them. I don’t trust them.

I'm very disappointed. I opened the box, powder was flying everywhere, and every tile inside was shattered. They are not usable, I spent a lot of money to get them in this condition, what a disappointment! Definitely don't buy it.
