  • Good quality construction, versatile, priced competitively at $23 for the set. Good quality construction, versatile, priced competitively at $23 for the set.
I wouldn’t classify this electrical disconnect set as something I would use every day, or frankly, with any amount of appreciable frequency. In almost all cases, I can reach, and use my hands to uncouple most electrical connections under the hood of a vehicle. However, as we all know, not all tools are used frequently, but when you need them in a pinch, well, it’s darn nice to have them on hand to help get the job done. And that is how I feel about this four-piece set. It is not going to get much use, but in a bind, it’s going to be better to have them on hand, than not to. The three-pairs of pliers in the set are made well by my DIYer standards. For the limited stress they have to endure, they are more than up to the task from a construction standpoint. They are solid, have good, basic grip-ergonomics, and they have smooth pivot points. From a functionality standpoint, depending on the particulars of the connector, yes, they should work to facilitate disconnecting stubborn or difficult to access connectors. Given the fact that they are pliers, if not used with some amount of care, you could and up complicating your life by damaging older and more brittle connectors, thus caution should be used. I think that the use of any tool for uncoupling any electrical connector under the hood increases the risks of damage, so I would always opt to disconnect by hand first, before turning to tools like these. As to the included lever in the set, well, it’s pretty basic as one would expect, but it can help to lift the tabs on connectors. The design of the lever facilitates accessing the tabs from the front or back of the connector, but I would again say that trying by hand is advisable first, before moving on to the use of tools. I would also say, not to be repetitive, but some amount of caution should also be used so as not to damage or break a connector. My bottom line here is that from a quality perspective, this set should not disappoint, and the current price of $23 for the set is reasonable and competitive. The pliers in particular have some versatility on differing types of connectors, and I would advise doing some quick research to see how mechanics and DIYers utilize them for maximum usefulness, and convenience as well. I don’t have any complaints about this set. ... show more

  • No more fighting to get the wire connectors loose! No more fighting to get the wire connectors loose!
I'm always struggling to disconnect the wire connectors when I work on my cars. This is so much help, and they are easy to use. They don't come with instructions but you just try them on the different connectors until you get the right one. They are sturdy solid tools that seem like they'll last. They are versatile and can be used for many different things not just disconnecting wires. Great value for the tools you get. I'm happy to add these to my set of car tools. ... show more

  • I love this set so much. They are a must have.
I have gotten to use these a few times now, and I got to say I thought it was going to be another tool that I wouldn't ever use. But after years of hurting my fingers on those hard to disconnect terminals, these are the only way to go. They are not the best quality steel, however I have used them a lot and they work great and I would get a few sets of these one for my truck and one for my tool box. Very easy to use. ... show more

  • Could have been better
Work fairly well but will not work on some Toyota electrical connectors, no instructions either.

  • Good quality Good quality
I’m not a mechanic by trade, but do have the occasional need to disconnect these annoying electrical connectors from time to time. They are always in the tightest places and as luck has it, frequently in the cold. No fun fumbling with these connectors with numb fingers. Enter these tools which work with a variety of different connector types. First thing I noted was that they came wrapped in plastic and oiled. They appear to be steel, so they will likely rust if left out. Oddly, two of the grips are smooth rubber and two are textured. I wish they are all textured. Quality and functionality seems to be good enough for my occasional use needs, but if you are a professional, you’ll probably want to look elsewhere. Milling of the tools is good with no gaps. ... show more
