  • More Fun Than Anticipated
Style: Windmill Generator Kit
Super fun and easy! Great value for my money. Perfect activity for age range. Kids felt awesome after installation.

  • Works well but smaller scale
Style: Clean Water Science
The media could not be loaded. We have tested this product with both the suggested dirty water and water colored with food coloring and it worked on both cases. It should be noted however that the filtering materials are vert small quantities, so using a big amount of water dirt or colors will make it less efficient faster. I would suggest to do the test with small amounts, I think 50 ml is more the enough to demonstrate the principle. For the dyed water I ended up using only 20 ml. My daughter used it for her science project and it was very fun for her to do and she assemble it herself with my guidance to explain the instructions. She is first grade so I do not think it is very challenging bu fun and educating to observe. I added a video of the assembly and the final product and function. I would suggest to use a heavy glass container as a collector as they suggested because it was too flimsy when my daughter used a plastic cup and needed to add a support cup as seen in the end of the video. ... show more

  • 2 things to watch out for during assembly to make it work great!
Style: Windmill Generator Kit
I received this today in our RND Lab and assembled it right away. Had 2 issues that once corrected, the unit works just fine. 1st, they provide a detailed instruction sheet and it is simple to follow. They "clearly" show the RED wire at the bottom right rear and the BLACK on the other terminal. After assembly the light would not light up. As an engineer, I immediately started trouble shooting and found that if it was spun backwards the LED would light up. Of course being thorough (they recommend twisting the wires which I just can't live with), had to "de-solder" and then re solder the wires to the opposite terminals. Using our shop air compressor system and 40 PSI the LED lit very brightly. 2nd, the bottle cap adapter that they recommend adding oil to is molded with too high of a tolerance. To fix this problem, I sanded the very top edge until it was smooth (there is a very definite ridge ring that can be felt around it that is unnecessary). After that it easily spun around as it should. I've added a picture showing the 2 steps above. So, in the end, definitely an excellent product for learning and and the price is very reasonable. If it hadn't been for the extra work it would have been given it all 5 stars. ... show more

  • Science Project Done!
Style: Windmill Generator Kit
This was a lifesaver for an overdue science project my Son needed to get done for his 4th grade class. The instructions were easy to follow, the science was clear to understand and explain in his report, and he and his Dad had fun building it and testing it out. It worked just as promised and the light is clear to see. It got here fast and was very afforable... just an all around great product! Thank you! ... show more

  • Great value, imperfect process, 3-4 hours of learning and entertainment
Style: Salt Water Powered Robot Kit
Purchased as a gift for the child I babysit. This was a fun STEM project for us on a rainy day, and provided about 3 hours of learning and entertainment. We only managed to get the robot to “go,” for a few seconds but all other attempts were unsuccessful. Some of the pieces were very small, with complex instructions and would likely be difficult for a child under 11 to complete without lots of instruction, assistance, etc. I am 26 and I had to check and re-check to ensure we were doing it correctly. We enjoyed putting it together but we’re disappointed that it didn’t move for more than a few seconds. However, the price was extremely low and it provided us with 3-4 hours of intrigue, entertainment, and learning. With SO much of school being online right now, this was a very solid and inexpensive way to keep the kiddo occupied for a while. ... show more

  • Elementary School Science Fair Doesn't FAIR against THIS!
Style: Clean Water Science
This was and is awesome! My 6-year-old son hubby loved it and worked on it during his science fair last year. It's easy to construct and fascinating to watch. When we set it up at the science fair, it was shredded quickly by those bunch of kids but I was able to salvage it. Basically, everything that was suppose to go in the containers ended up on the floor and the containers were put in all kinds of wrong positions. In the end, it still gets 5 stars because if you are at a science fair that's NO TOUCHING, this thing is sure to win for the little ones. P.S. I had to do all the writing. My 1st grader was USELESS with the scientific part. He just liked watching the dirty water become clean. =^( ... show more

  • Best Present Ever!
Style: Salt Water Powered Robot Kit
Ever see a kid get a present and FREAK? Then he doesn't put it down at all - he walks around with the present in his hand throughout the whole party - gripped in his hand - just because he loves the present sooo much? That is what I experienced when I gave this present to my nephew on Christmas Eve. The kid didn't put the box down. He thought it was the best thing, he passed over the video games and zeroed in on this present and it was the best present in the world. I gave 4M presents to all the kids and it was a hit. Getting feedback from Dad on later install - he said it was fun to put together, easy for the 9 year old boy to figure out, but challenging enough for fun - and it was SUPER FAST when the water was added. Works for me. ... show more

  • Perfect Water Purification Science Project
Style: Clean Water Science
This had everything I needed to pull off a quick and easy science fair project for my 3rd grade son. We made our own "Dirty water" to increase the EWWW factor and make it more fun. There were three methods of purification, distillation, filtration and a third we did not use. The filtration was well designed, easy to observe and quite effective; we watched it for several hours as it procuced a teaspoon of filtered water, but were pleasantly surprised in the morning when close to 1/4 cup of water had trickled through the filters. The distillation portion is well designed, but time consuming. It took many iterations of heating the water and placing the collection device over the cup to produce a few drops. That was not due to the design of the product, but more due to the viscosity of our dirty water. Great product. ... show more
