4 foot was more then enough to go from my energizer to my ground posts and fence connection PLUS it's easy to unhook my fence to work with it this way. I use similar clamp to clamp connections where my fence sections meet for a gateway. These screw to the energizer posts with no slip and clamp right up. No stripping wires, no posts unscrewing because of using the wire.

DESCRIPTION: This is a pair of four foot clip leads, one green and one red, intended for connecting a fence charger to the electric fence. One end has a clip connection similar to a jumper cable. The other end has a #10 ring terminal. I obtained these for temporarily connecting my portable generator to a ground rod (I only needed one). ———————— ASSEMBLY: The wires provided are four feet long, which are quite short and may be OK if your fence charger is very close to the fencing wire and ground rod. My ground rod is about 15 feet away from the portable generator, so I replaced the provided wire with a longer piece of #12 stranded green wire. ———————— PLUS: The jaw on the clip opens nice and wide, and easily grabs my 3/4" electrical conduit ground rod. Sharp teeth ensure a secure connection. The wires pass under the leaf spring in the clip, which provides a strain relief effect, so a pull on the wire will not pull it off the connection. ———————— MINUS: The wire connections to the clips are soldered, even though there is a copper crimp saddle provided. The solder is the only thing holding the wire in place. Ground connections typically require a mechanical (crimped) connection. This is because a ground fault may cause the connection to heat, melting the solder and causing the connection to fail. ———————— HOW I USED IT: I use this as a temporary connection between the ground stud provision on my portable generator and a driven ground rod of 3/4" EMT electrical conduit. It is only in place when the generator is running during a power failure. ———————— MY RATING: Good product, does the job, but the four foot length was too short for my use and required lengthening.
