The media could not be loaded. Overall: When it comes to safes, I think a decent safe for a good price is a good enough solution. If you are hoping to have this safe be unbeatable, you may want to consider a different option. If you are considering this safe, mounted against a wall somewhere for tax documents, gold, watches, and/or quite a few handguns then this safe is good enough for most applications - decent security, good looking, easy to use. Normally I’d have given this a 4-star rating, but customer service was very responsive in solving the small issues I had upon receiving the safe. So the combination of a good safe for a good price with good customer service earns it the 5-star. The details: When I first received the safe, I was really impressed with how it was packaged. The shipping materials were plenty strong enough with plastic corners and thick styrofoam overlays. There was no damage from normal shipping operations. The exterior looks really nice and the access ports to the key slots are easy to access but clean looking when covered. In order to access them you lightly push on the bottom portion of the cover and then pull it off - they have small magnet mounts to keep them attached (see image). With other safes I have seen there is no external method to power the lock in case of a dead battery situation AND you don’t have access to the keys. This safe comes with an external battery pack that can be used as an extra fail safe measure. I will likely never have to use this technique but in a pinch I could see this design being very useful. The safe comes with integrated battery powered LEDs that activate once the code is input that dimly illuminates each of the cavities - I thought it was kind of a nice touch. Things to consider: The safe has mounting holes on the back side of the safe that are covered by felt. You can easily punch through those and mount the safe against a wall. The only concern you may run into is the spacing between the holes - typical american framing is 16” on center. This safe has mounting holes spaced 9 ⅜” apart. So if you’re mounting it to concrete, brick, or solid wood, then it’s not an issue, but you may need a spanning board if you want to mount it in a typical American house. The safe doors are heavy enough that with an empty safe and both doors open - if the safe is not mounted against a wall - it may tip forward a bit. Mounting this with one screw against a wall will prevent this. The internal shelves can be removed but cannot be adjusted. The shelves are made of fairly thin sheet metal, but would probably be strong enough to handle anything you can reasonably fit in the safe. The lock/unlock ring is made from plastic. This might produce a little heartburn for some, but it also might be considered a safety feature because the unlocking ring will certainly break before an intruder is able to leverage it against the lock. Either way, something to keep in mind when purchasing this safe. When I first used the safe, I found that the lock was not engaging on the top door. I removed the door cover on the back and discovered the locking pin was not quite reaching the locking bar assembly. I simply loosened that assembly and moved it in line with the locking bar assembly (see image). I presume it must have dropped slightly during shipping. Customer service was very responsive in helping me. This issue was not a major problem for me because it was a very simple fix, but still something to keep in mind when purchasing.

I took the chance on this safe with so few reviews, but I figure I can help out potential future buyers by giving you a lot of the details that may be important for your consideration: Overall: - Definitely worth the price if you’re looking for a safe that is easy to install between studs and not have to make major renovations or carry an 800 lb safe into your house. I would definitely recommend the safe for most purposes (handguns, cash, gold, jewelry, etc). If you’re looking to keep multiple rifles or even a single long rifle over like 40” in a safe, you’ll need something bigger. Impressive Details: - The front door is made from what feels like solid steel that is almost 3/16” thick. For the price range and the application, I think it honestly decent. It doesn’t take up too much internal space, but it is thick enough to be formidable. - The 3 locking bars are each over 3/4" in diameter. They don’t appear to be solid steel, but they are plenty strong for the application. - The safe includes two key hanging areas – may not be useful for everyone but I thought it was a nice touch. - The shelf height is not adjustable, but the shelves are removable. The shelves are held in place with thumb screws, which is a great feature because the shelves don’t move when loading and unloading things from the safe. - The safe comes pre-installed with neoprene bumpers on the internal corners in order to keep the metal-to-metal contact limited when closing the safe. - One of the big concerns with safes is the hinge mechanism. The hinge structure seems to be good enough for the weight of the door. Fillet welded in 3 places with no obvious signs of cracking. Things to know: - In America, studs are spaced 16” on center which means that the space between the studs is 14.5”. The dimension of the safe that slides between the studs is actually closer to 13.875” which could be good news if you have some concerns about whoever framed in your house, but you will need a spacer prior to lagging it into the wall. I ripped a .625” thick piece of a 2x4 and secured that to one of the studs prior to installation. Worked like a charm and it is very tight. - For those trying to conceal this safe behind something: the installed thickness of the safe off of the wall is .4” to the exterior rim, .8” from the wall to the base of the keypad and just over 1” from the wall to the tip of the lock/unlock handle.
