I used to keep a jar of various tiny screws for use when building or repairing computers and other electronics. Over the years most of them were used and my supply was pretty low. I do a fair amount of building random machines across different form factors as part of home labbing and just general enthusiast behavior. I've found myself in a situation far too many times, where I don't have a screw handy for the task I'm currently working on. Having kits like these are essential if you're piecing together random parts, especially if they're being acquired second hand. This particular one includes just about everything that would be needed for any number of basic builds with off the shelf parts. I've been building computers for a long long time, so I've built up a sizeable collection of silver screws. What I don't have is black. With one box, that problem is solved. These are all the standard screw sizes used in PC building. You'll sometimes encounter specialty screws, but for most situations, this box has you covered. Threads appear cut correctly and evenly. The ones I've pulled out have been good. The oxide coating is even and doesn't appear beat up in transit. Using a screwdriver on them didn't immediately flake the coating either. Oxide isn't indestructible and will scratch if you aren't careful, but if you use the right screwdriver bit and don't force them then they will still be black after being installed. ... show more

This is a set of 400 screws most commonly used in pc s. The set is packaged in a sturdy plastic box with dividers, giving each type their own space. I like that there is a legend on the lid showing what is in each compartment. You will only realize how handy this set is after you are building a rig and find you don't have the screw that you need.
