The poles were a great purchase for my deck patio area. The pole were tall enough and allowed for me to adjust the height to fit my space. I appreciate the extra tools allowing me to either use the stakes or attach the poles to a fixed structure. These are not quite 10 feet long. It’s more like about 8 1/2, but they raise the lights to a pleasant ceiling height. You have to account for the amount that ends up below ground when you install them. You can also mount to a fence post. They blend in and are not very visible, which is nice. You shouldn’t attach high tension cables or parachute cord to use these. They’re meant for draping, so put them on every post unless they’re closer together than 8 feet or so. We have are placed on a hill, and I zipped tied them to are trees, just so they don’t get moved (I have kids that like to move things).
