Once hooked up it had a very small learning curve with getting the screws tightened up right so that it didn't move. However once I figured it out it worked great. Well made and very easy to get square. I can see it being very useful for cutting square and as a circle cutter. Measurements are in Metric, fyi. Only complaint is it will NOT fit the Bosch Colt routers so not as “universal” as it may seem.

I am an amateur woodworker who loves to experiment with making all sorts of things. This router bracket has allowed me to create projects that used to stump me. I have accessed online videos for information and inspiration and this tool let me move forward with my skills. It is sturdy and easy to set up and use. It did take me a few tries before being able to perform smooth grove cuts but that would be expected. So far, I have completed a bookshelf with straight groove enhancements and a peek-a-boo toy for my granddaughter. I think this was a good tool to add to my collection.

This did not fit my Bosch Colt router out of the box. I knew that when I ordered it. I ended up making a separate bracket out of 1/4" ply in order to get it to fit. I had to use a centering cone to make sure the spindle was centered. It was a whole thing; I wouldn't recommend it. Just get one that fits your router out of the box. Compatibility issues aside, how well does it work? Well, it's fine, I guess. First off, it's metric. Though my Canadian wife would approve of this, around here we use freedom units with fractions based on the arbitrary lengths of regal appendages (yee-haw). Unfortunately, this instantly reduces its application to measurements that you either need to convert to metric or (better option) referential measurements from the actual workpiece. Second, it's aluminum. While I love the durability and light weight of aluminum, you will have to be careful not to scratch your workpiece. While mine didn't have any particularly sharp edges, i did sand them down just a bit to be safe. There's always a chance that a piece of grit could get between the metal and your workpiece and scratch a nice line or arc into it, so maybe just lay down some masking tape or something if you're working with a piece that's already finished. So yeah, if you can get it to fit your router and you're okay with metric measurements, this is a nice option. Or, you could do the whole "buy once, cry once" thing and pick one up from your local woodworking supplier at a significantly higher price (but much more versatile and easier to use). Circle jigs are also pretty easy to make out of some scrap plywood, so that would be your most cost-effective option. I'd probably just purchase an edge guide, though.
