  • Reasonable price and very solid
Size: 48 Inches Material Type: Steel and Aluminum Style: L-Carriages
TOTAL assembly required but the machining is accurate and design is good. I approve of self assembly to insure both my understanding of the tool as well as more careful alignment of parts than can be expected from “line” assembly. Instructions are reasonably clear and in good sequence. The solid round bars provide weight for stability and dependable lack of flexion. The whole unit should serve well. I mounted an old Hitachi 12 amp, 1/2” collet router with a 7” diameter baseplate which just fits the plexi base plate supplied. Any normal router should fit with ease. I have not put it to work yet because I have not settled the side tracking rails to insure smooth operation on that access but I am confident that this unit will provide the close tolerance we are looking for, along with smooth operation. Its design eliminates the sloppiness of setup and unreliable axies implied in other solutions I have looked at. ... show more

  • Contact the customer if something is wrong, not amazon.
Size: 48 Inches Material Type: Steel and Aluminum Style: L-Carriages
I have had great success with this sled so far. I've only had it a couple days and I've already flattened several slabs with it. It did come with the wrong size locking ring. When I called Amazon they said that they couldn't do anything to help me unless I returned the entire piece of equipment, which was not an option for me with my business. They were not helpful at all, however the people who made this thing had put their email in the package so I emailed them, and they took care of me right away. I'm very satisfied with the product and their customer service. ... show more

  • An alternative to a planer
Size: 48 Inches Material Type: Steel and Aluminum Style: L-Carriages
I used this for two major projects so far and in both cases it led me to successful turn outs in creating some very flat panels at will, as long as the side to side stays under 40-inches or so. These helped me with some hardwood shelving that I made for the TV entertainment wall cabinet and build out. The jig does stay steadfast on the work table and once I use the router to trim and flatten the top, the two cross rods do stay true and didn't bow up at all. I also attribute this to the material selection in its design where every piece seem to be made with specialty hardened steel and the whole thing with the router now behaves like a 2-D CNC planer controlled by my hand. With this jig, I can flatten a much better slab than a typical planer and at only half the price. So yeah, I do vouch that if you're needing a planer, consider this instead. You'll likely take longer to set up and do more manual work, but you can work with larger pieces as long as you can navigate the work through some good planning ahead. Not a bad jig; if I start over again, I'd ditch the planers and just get this, for I get much more out of this jig than a planer because my router can be used for many other things where the planer will stay stationary and only does one job. ... show more

  • Very sturdy and easy to use
Size: 48 Inches Material Type: Steel and Aluminum Style: L-Carriages
It takes a bit of time to assemble and setup, but comes with good instructions, so not too bad. It is very sturdy and stout. Smooth operation, no sag or any problems with my router, a very handy tool for those looking for a solid solution to get your live edge slaps smooth and level. You can build your own sled for that purpose, but IMO it is worth getting this purpose built tool for superior results. ... show more
