Bad regulator fantastic forge!

Bayou Classic Regulator https://a.co/d/aEPfD8o This forge is a fantastic beginner forge. It gets hot enough for damascus forge welds. The only issue I had with it is the cheap regulator. Save yourself the headache I had and get the regulator that I posted in this review along with this forge. I recommended this forge to a bunch of friends. The regulator freezes up and slows down heat. The first 5 knives I made the regulator did fine. It wasn't until knife 6 that the regulator craped out on me. The regulator I bought that I put on this review fixes everything.

One of my favorite budget purchases ever.

I don't give many 5 star ratings on Amazon because I'm usually hard on items. But this was the first forge I ever bought and it's shockingly awesome. I've had it for 3 years and it continues to impress. As I'm sure all of the other reviews say, you absolutely MUST use refractory cement and cover the ceramic wool or it's a serious health hazard. I've had to skim coat this a few times over the years, but it remains solid. I would recommend removing the doors and placing standard fire brick on the sides instead. Otherwise, I'm looking at getting the 2 burner because I need more heat for forge welding. Seriously, buy it. Just use refractory cement.

It's HOT!

This thing is surprisingly hot. We just played around forge welding some lawn mower blade metal. Did ok for our first try. The flames are intense so I'm curious how much propane we're going to burn through. Seems pretty well build. The insulation is fragile, not their fault. You just have to be careful.

2 doors is a must. smaller things get hot faster ,open the back for long

definitely spend the extra money on the hardener and mastic coatings. i don't crank mine up full body and it gets plenty hot for working high carbon steel.

Hoses can melt
Size: 4 Burner
Not a bad forge, two hoses, however, did melt when I was using just two of the burners. I did not hookup 2 of the hoses and that's when the melting occured.q
