A bench vise is needed in every garage. I have wanted one for a while now and this is perfect. Not too big and not too small, and opens up enough for everything I can think to use it for.

    • Light to Medium duty
Manufacturer didn't bother to tighten the screws on the jaws or the bolt that attaches the base. Manufacture didn't bother to smear even a tad bit grease on the threads of the screw that you turn to open and close the jaws. It is made of cast iron so I do not consider it heavy duty as the listing currently states. If I did not have to take it apart to apply a light smear if grease on the base and screw that you turn to open and close the jaws and if the fasteners had been tight I'd have given it 2 or maybe even 3 stars. Not a bad little vise but in no way would it stand up to serious use in a shop. But after tightening and greasing it seems like it will be OK for light duty at home. Let's face it if you need a vise for serious work you are not going to get it at anywhere near the low price of this one. Anvil area measures slightly less than 2" by slightly less than 1 3/4". My main use if this little vise is going to be to hold used hex head screws (bolts) and hex nuts while run a thread chaser over the threads. Should work fine for that. I definitely would not want to even try to use it for something like holding a driveshaft while hammering out a u-joint. There probably are quite a few sellers offering these, if the listing claims theirs is Forged Steel they are most likely mistaken. At least message them and ask for verification before buying.
