I got this MUTAK 4-5 Gun Safe for Rifles and Pistols to use more as a deterrent and to give me a little extra peace of mind. It’s advertised as a 4-5 gun safe, but just a heads up, it’s definitely designed for shorter rifles, AR-style builds, or PCC's. Full size rifles and shotguns will likely not fit in this safe. If you have a kitted out AR, you may have to store it sideways in order to get the door to shut; which will leave you with even less space inside the safe. The build quality is actually pretty good, though it's more akin to a beefed up storage cabinet than an actual safe. It could probably be cut open fairly quickly with an angle grinder, but it's definitely a solid option for keeping kids out. The electronic keypad is fairly responsive; it takes a little more pressure to activate it, but once you get it lit up the buttons are easy to press. It was easy to set up a new code, and I really like that it comes with a backup key and a usb-c emergency charge port; very handy if the batteries die and you've misplaced the keys. Just make sure you try the default code after setting the new code to make sure it was wiped. The alarm features are kind of meh. It has a vibration alarm and a wrong passcode alarm that will go off if you type in the wrong code too many times, however it isn't very loud. The interior light is a nice touch, it isn't crazy bright but it gets the job done. It also includes bolts to mount it to the floor or a wall. For a compact safe, i'm pretty happy with it. The build quality is good and it tucks nicely into a closet or corner without taking up a ton of space. I wouldn't call it a stellar value with all of the available options out there, but I don't think it's terribly overpriced either. It works great for what I needed it for though.

Pretty nice safe. It's not very heavy but heavy enough. If you dont bolt it in, someone can walk off with it. It holds some riffles and handguns.

When I read “compact gun case” I thought that meant that it didn't take up a lot of space. It actually means that it won't fit normal rifles or shotguns. The interior height is just over 43”. You’ll have to tilt your gun since there is a lip that drops that height on the exterior. It fit my 22 and 410. It wouldn't fit my air rifle, my 12 gauge, or my 20 gauge (shown in photo). To me that severely limits the storage capacity and I cannot use it for a majority of my guns and the primary gun that I want to keep securely in my closet. In my opinion this gun safe is actually a cabinet and is really only good for keeping your gun away from kids, or keeping someone from accessing them quickly. For me that is perfect. An angle grinder is going to make short work of 16 gauge steel and this is not going to keep someone from stealing your guns if they really want them. It is very lightweight. The cabinet is fairly barebones and the interior light is convenient to give you barely enough light to find what you are looking for. The cabinet itself looks very nice and the locking functionality works well. It comes with fasteners to mount it to a wall and floor. One of the features I really like is the alarm. An alarm triggers if there are three failed attempts to unlock it. That way if your kids (or someone) are messing with it you'll know. I think this is a bit too high in price. There are several alternatives on Amazon that have similar features and hold full-size rifles at a lower price.

As someone new to owning a safe, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect—but this Mutak 4–5 gun safe has proven to be a solid, value-driven purchase. I recently acquired a new shotgun and wanted a reliable, secure way to store it, along with a few other items, and this safe fit the bill nicely. On paper, it claims to hold up to five rifles, and while it technically can, it gets a bit cramped if you're storing anything beyond three long guns. It’s also shorter than expected, so if you’re storing longer barrels or using optics, you might want to double-check the specs or consider sizing up. Still, for what I currently own, it works—and it gives me a bit of room to grow. The build quality feels sturdy, though a bit light-duty. It comes with mounting hardware for various surfaces, and mounting it to drywall was easy—I used the safe itself as a drill guide. Once mounted, it feels secure enough for home use and child safety, though I wouldn’t count on it as a full-on theft deterrent for a determined intruder. More than anything, it offers peace of mind and a delay factor that adds a layer of security. The electronic keypad works reliably, and I really appreciated the option to disable the button beeps for quieter access. The interior light is well-positioned, making it easy to access gear in low light without being blinding. There's also a tamper alert, which is a nice touch, though not loud enough to be heard throughout the whole house. It's compact size was perfect for the space I had in mind—but again, your mileage may vary. If you’ve got longer barrels or more gear, spending an extra $25–$50 might get you something more accommodating. Overall, this safe delivers solid value, thoughtful features, and just enough space and security to make me feel confident keeping my gear in the house. Just be sure to check the dimensions closely to make sure it fits your needs.

but not really sure it would keep a thief out. To me this is just a large lock box for some short-medium riffles as it will not protect your firearms from anything other than a child trying to get in. It was very light compared to my small handgun safe that has some fire rating to it. The light is basically useless and there is no way to turn it back on from what I could tell. For the probably $50 less you can find other 10-12 lock boxes so make sure to shop around.
