Fantastic repeater so far, awesome build quality and design, hooked to my 60ft antenna I have about a perfect swr of 1.02 , , Was able to talk 37 miles, just a fantastic bit of kit! Mine shipped with firmware ver 1.5, You MUST have a good antenna set up with a low swr, high swr obviously ruins communication quality and distance but is also hard on the unit and can/will cause damage eventually, buy a quality antenna and good cable! As of now I am VERY impressed with the rt97L, awesome build quality, great design, amazing sound and reception what more could you ask for.

The media could not be loaded. I first had the transmit delay issue which it wouldn't transmit after keying a radio a couple of times, sent an email to Retevis and the next morning I had the instructions on how to download the firmware update and software for the update. To be fair my repeater's output is 30.1 Watts with the power supply which is more than advertised and it's working great after the update.

I have some serious issues with this repeater. First off you must install apk, adb platform apps in order to update and get the unit setup. The most popular apk apps are not from US. These apps require you to link your cell phone to an outside server. If anyone has crypto access on your phone, your more brave than me. Another reviewer stated he got a virus from doing all this. I have spent all afternoon trying to get the repeater to transmit. It is receiving, but will not transmit. I suppose I have a defective unit. I am putoff that this unit is not plug n play.

This repeater replaced an RT97S that has been in service for a few years. No issues with it, other than the output power after the duplexer was about 4 watts. The new RT97L transmits at 21 watts (verified) after the duplexer. It has added about 10 miles onto my range and works in low spots or valleys that it didn't before. I have in located at the top of a hill, in a fence line at the highest point on my property. It is powered by a marine deep cycle battery that is charged by solar panels. I initially had the first generation RT97 that worked flawlessly for years but went with the RT97S when it came out so I could link it nationwide. I have had great results with almost all of the Retevis products I have owned over the years. This being a new product, there was an issue with the programming software that Retevis has fixed. Retevis may be a bit difficult to deal with due to the time difference and language, but they have always solved any of the minor issues I have had with their new products. It would be great if they had a more complete manual for their products. This repeater has several options that can be set with the software but does not explain what the different settings do.

The media could not be loaded. Had it less than 24 hours using their antenna their coax their power supply work great for the first 5 hours then all of a sudden now it's starting to flash as in it won't stay on turns on and off on and off on and off most of the time it stays off the L model did put out a little bit more power than expected it has a nice scan features a lot of good things about it but it only lasted me 10 hours not even that actually

I am enjoying my new RT97L very much. I had some problems with updating the firmware and programming but it was my fault. I am a Mac Book user and had to use a Windows base computer for accomplish these tasks. My problem with Windows. I had to learn a little about the Windows system. All in all it was a fun exercise, just took a little time. Now that I know how it is a easy and quick process. I live in a valley about 20 miles wide surrounded by high cliffs. By placing my antenna high in the valley floor I can clearly make and receive messages 20 miles away. Current draw in standby is amazingly low which easy works with a small 20 aH liFpo4 battery and 100 watt solar collector. After sale customer service was FANTASTIC. Two thumbs up to the Retevis after purchase service and support. I am impressed!!!!

Update, after the review I have was posted, I now received a reply and Retiveis sounds willing to work with me to get it it fixed. I Let the repeater run over night as a test, the next morning it would not rep[eat voice only static. Once I rebooted it, then it would repeat voice for 3-5 hours then it quit working all together. I emailed Retevis, but have not had a reply back.
