these are great boots, they're; comfortable, fit well, and well made. columbia is a quality brand, i've been buying them for years now. just a note, i've found that you should order them 1/2 size larger than the shoes you normally buy.

I'm writing this review AFTER my review of a recent pair of hiking sneakers that I bought. Loved the hiking sneakers and realized they are the same brand as these boots I purchased at the begining of summer! These Columbia ankle-boots are perfect for my flat, old and Army-abused feet. When I was searching for a decent, waterproof hiking boot the Columbia's caught my attention; 1) for their price and, 2) i really liked the color. I am not a hiker but I like the hiking-style boots and shoes as they are great for motorcycling. And, having something other than black leather for motorcycle boots is a plus for me in the southern states where it gets so hot in the summers that your feet can get very hot and sweaty fast. Having a lighter color really makes a difference. Despite that these boots fit me perfectly...and I bought them a 1/2 size larger than my normal size. They weathered one 2-week long motorcycle trip, although I cannot speak of their waterproof-ness as I finally had a rain-free motorcycle trip this year. I willing to bet they're more water RESISTANT, as there has NEVER been a waterPROOF boot I owned that didn't get my feet wet. (Even the higher-priced boots claiming to be waterPROOF...aren't! (Unless they're the Duckies!) Overall, I plan to stick with the Columbia brand. I think the quality is on par with the bigger name-brands yet their prices are WAY lower than the others. Glad I took a chance on the Columbia brand as I really like them!

I work outside where I need durable shoes that can withstand the elements. I have literally stepped fully into puddles, been in rain, and had dirt fall on them, and they really are waterproof after 2 months in. The tread gives a lot of feet support, and they also brush dirt off super easily. I haven’t had to clean them at all since dirt basically just comes off once you walk in them enough. They also are an attractive looking shoe that I have used casually for hiking, and have gotten compliments on. My only complaint, which is likely due to my own feet size difference, is the right feels a tad tighter than the left at the toe and the ankle. There also has been some chafing already on the inside of the shoe at the heel and toe area, but I use them every day so that’s understandable. Overall I am really satisfied with the quality for this price, it didn’t break the bank for a good shoe.

Toe cap stitchong started to come loose as soon as I started wearing these. All I did was walk and gently ride my bike. The rest of the shoe is completely solidcand durable. Just weak thread used to keep the toe caps attached to the shoe upper. Maybe I got a pair from a bad batch, and maybe that's why I got them for 70% off of tetail here on Amazon. Anyway, it was such a good deal, I pulled out a strong needle, a thimble (had to buy a large one) and some stronge thread, and re-sewed both toe caps, myself. Sometimes it takes a little work to get a real bargain.

The first time I wore these in the rain they soaked through to my feet to the point where they made a squish sound with every step I took. Mind you these are billed as waterproof, not water-resistant. Unfortunately this was after the Amazon return window closed and was stuck with them. I reached out to Columbia who asked me to send them in so they could repair the problem. How can this be repaired? It's not a loose sole or torn upper. The problem is they are not waterproof. So now I would have to gamble on spending $20 to ship them in the hope they either supply a pair that actually is waterproof or give me a refund, but they could also just say there's nothing wrong with them and now I've thrown good money after bad. I won't be buying anything from Columbia again and I advise everyone to do the same.
