These trays are very nice and sleek. Can be used for multiple things. Easy to clean and light weight. It is pretty sturdy as well. The only thing I was looking for was if it came with a lid. As I wanted to display my desserts. It big and can hold alot of items.

I did not plan to use these platters for humans, so I was not truly looking for the very best quality of melamine made, but I did expect the trays to be nicer than they are. I can work with what I received, however I do think that others should be aware that there are some imperfections in the finish, and that this issue applies to the upper surfaces of all three of the trays. The top surfaces feel like little bits of grit are stuck to them here and there when I run my hands over them. Particularly in the areas where the tops of the flat surfaces meet the sides, there are a few scattered slightly rough areas on each tray. None of this is visible to the eye at first because they are very white and reflective, but once I knew that rough patches were there I looked at them under very good light. If the trays were made out of wood I would have said they needed to be sanded down again and re-sprayed with a clear coating. But this is plastic and I am not about to spend my time using a plastic polish to try to buff away the imperfections. More care needed to be taken in their production in the first place. I am going to use these trays to help keep my kitchen floor cleaner when I feed my cats their wet food a couple of times per day. They have lower-edged, white ceramic food dishes to avoid brushing their whiskers, so some food inevitably ends up over the edges of thier dishes. It is a constant chore to clean this up and it uses up a lot of paper towels. I thought if I found a small tray for each of them, they could continue to make their usual mess, and it would be a lot easier for me to clean up by just picking up the trays and working on them at counter level. So I still do appreciate having these three trays for my critters, but I don't imagine most people looking at buying the trays will be using them the way I am. They may very much want them to be perfect and they are not that.

I have always loved the durability and "unbreakability" of melamine; we had whole Melmac dish set when I was young and I definitely tested the durability. Now, I just wish melamine was microwave safe for heating above 170°. These platters are a very thick 1/4" measured at the rim. They are stable and don't bend at all with weight placed in them. They are strong enough for anything that you could fit into them, from the huge pot roast with all the "fixings" to assorted fruits or cheeses for a party platter. My set is smooth without any roughness, and does not have a single black spot (that other reviewers have noticed). However, one tray does have a tiny 1/2" round area that is less shiny. But this could only be seen when light reflected directly off the area. (And is so imperceptible that I was unable to photograph it at all and barely able to even find it by touch). The spot would not be readily seen when using the trays. However, at this price point, I would not expect even minor imperfections and therefore have only given 4 stars.
