  • Despite being small, these clamps do have a good purpose
Size: Large
No woodworker has ever said that they have too many clamps. I build a fair amount of cabinets as a hobby and there are numerous times in the construction where we need to ensure you have everything true and square. When I look at the picture of the item, i have to admit that I expected the clamps to be bigger as I have seen other versions that were more to scale and had bigger clamps. I have enclosed a picture to show you the actual size ratio. I find these to be most useful when making cabinets and I need to hold each section when I dry fit everything up. the small size of these clamps allow them to be placed in spaces such as the top row drawers. The quality is good and they are accurately square - which I would say is a baseline, but I will also say that I purchased another pair before this and the squares were actually out of square, which defeated the purpose of their existence. These are made of hard plastic, not metal, but that also means that they are much less susceptible to marring the surface of the wood. These are worth the price if you have a specific need for small space clamping. If they were a little but bigger, they would achieve the highest rating. ... show more

  • Good overall but has some problems with fit and finish
I am a woodworker and I've seen several different types of these 90 degree clamps. These clamps do work but has some fit and finish issues but for the price, its' to be expected. The clamp is plastic. It does feel sturdy and its' not flimsy at all. Its' a harder type of plastic. The foot is made out of the same type of plastic. The feet have little nubs on them that you'll want to clean up with a knife. The knobs feel cheap but they do have a metal insert to help them last longer. The metal insert does not go all the way through the knob.... maybe half way, The L-bolt is metal and looks fine. The L bracket is nice. I like them. I did test them for square and they are good enough for woodworking. The main problem with these is the fit and finish of the knob. The knob screws onto the bolt but for some, they don't spin freely. Which means you have to manually twist the knob on every single time instead of just spinning the knob on. No big deal, it takes a little extra effort and time to use them. Overall, I like these, they work well for the price. ... show more

  • Good for DIYers building drawers and boxes, not for hard use repetitive production work
Have you ever started a project where a special purpose tool would make assembly much easier? However, you were reluctant to buy one because you didn't think you would have a need for it after the project was finished. Single use tools are hard to justify if they are expensive. Not these corner clamps. You can feel good about purchasing these corner clamps for a single project. As a bonus, you'll have them for future projects as well. What I Like o Budget friendly. Good for single use projects. o Brass lined threaded knobs add strength and longevity. o All clamps snug down firmly on 90 degree joints. o Squares are stiff and don't flex under load. What I Don't Like o Squares are made of plastic, not metal like many competitors. o Squares are not perfectly square. I saw some daylight when I tested for squareness against a couple of my high-end known-to-be-accurate squares. The difference is about 1/2 mm so it may not be a big issue for DIY woodworking. Summary Comments These corner square clamps will work well for a DIYer. If you need an effective assembly tool for building drawers, chests or boxes they will make joinery easier, particularly for single use projects. For hard use production work, you may want to consider spending more and getting metal squares. ... show more

  • A replacement for a 3rd or 4th hand, for small projects only.
These square clamps can be handy for your woodworking projects. They secure and hold 2 pieces at right angle to each other. They are not the go to tool if you are assembling a lot of furniture together, but can help a lot when working on a small scale projects, or if you're in a pinch. The plastic is quite hard and rigid and the 90 degree angle is accurate. The accuracy will diminish when working on a larger pieces. The clamps are basic, but good enough. Positioning 2 pieces require few adjustments and since these clamps are screw based, this process can take some time. The knobs are rather light and small and as a result can't be spun on the thread. Quick clamps in this type of application are much better. I tried positioning these clamps on the inside with little success. The brackets are too short (4 inches on the side) causing the clamps to interfere. The brackets HAVE TO BE POSITIONED ON THE OUTSIDE. These clamps are rather inexpensive. Yes, there are better products on the market, yet these offer pretty good value if you're working on a small project. Anything bigger I would consider quick release clamps instead. ... show more

  • Good clamping square set
This is a good square set for assembling boxes and other rectangular structures. I have had good results getting square (90 degrees) assemblies with these. As an aside, make sure the end cuts of your boards are truly at 90 degrees. I use a shooting board and handplane to make sure of that. The squares are good solid plastic and my engineer's square tells me that they are truly 90 degrees. The clamps are not tall enough for anything thicker than 1-1/2" (2 x 4 for example), which really isn't much of a problem for woodworking. I had trouble tightening the clamps enough because the face of the knob rubs against the clamp body. This is easily solved by inserting a washer between the knob and the clamp body. Now tightening the knob draws the board into a snug fit with its mate. So unless the vendor adds washers, be prepared to use your own (5/16" or 3/8" bore). ... show more

  • Great for the price, dead on square
Size: Large
These are really nice to have when assembling cabinet carcasses. I checked them with my precision square and they were dead on 90. Hard to beat these for the price, especially if you are just starting out in woodworking.
