I put diatomaceous earth on the top of the soil and I've been letting it dry out but I've had to replace these in a week because they were just covered in those gnats! There's plenty in the pack and I have 6 plants. Still have enough to change all of them out two more times. I purchased black but was concerned because it said they are drawn to yellow. Apparently the gnats didn't care! In six days every single plant had so many on them they're really wasn't room for another one to get stuck.
