Our cat was at this scratching post within minutes!

If you are a cat owner (that is, if your cat allows you to share his/her house) you will understand what I'm about to say. Normally, when we buy something for our cat, Jetta, she looks at it in disdain, yawns, walks away, then goes to play in the box it was shipped in—for about 30-seconds. Then it's over. Not so with the Ahomdoo 34-Inch Tall Cat Scratching Post for Large Cats. She, of course, helped me assemble it (an easy job taking just minutes). Then, as always, she walked away to begin her normal "cat avoidance routine". Then my wife somehow got her attention and directed her to the base of the now assembled scratch pole. Within less than 1-minute (literally) she went from her normal uninterested mode to one of complete interest in this new object in her living room. She first actually used it for its intended purpose (a fully stretched-out scratching effort). Then, she laid down on the base, where she remained for about 15-minutes (an unheard of length of time for a cat that is not actually napping). She has been using her new scratch pole off and on throughout the morning. Needless to say, we are surprised and extremely pleased. Now, the review: the scratch pole was well packaged and arrived right on time from Amazon via overnight shipping (that still amazes me). It seems to be very well constructed of good materials—it ought to last a good, long while. Happily, assembly was quick and easy. Needless to say, we are really happy with this product, and so is Jetta. One of the things she likes about it is how tall it is—she can fully stretch out while she is scratching. We were surprised that she actually plays with the toys dangling from the top platform (you know, the "toys bore me" cat-attitude). We think it helps motivate her to stretch while she scratches. The stand is solid and has a good deal of heft to it, so it doesn't move around when our 12 lb. cat is attacking it. As you can, no doubt imagine, I highly recommend the Ahomdoo 34-Inch Tall Cat Scratching Post for Large Cats. We believe your cat—and, therefore, you—will be very happy.

Great scratching post for the price

Our two 8 month old male kittens absolutely love this scratching post!! They managed to shred the small post we had within a matter of a few weeks. This seems very durable and they love the height and can stretch and scratch at the same time! The attached hanging mouse is also a bonus toy that they fight over! It's a little wobbly but doesn't show any sign that it will tip and is much more stable on a carpeted surface vs tile. I highly recommend - great post for the price.

Great scratching post, strong and durable.

I purchased the Ahomdoo 34” heavy-duty cat scratching post to give my cat a better alternative to scratching furniture, and it has worked really well. Height & Design: The 34-inch height is one of the best features. My cat can fully stretch while scratching, which you just don’t get with shorter posts. It seems much more satisfying for them and actually gets used. Build Quality & Stability: The post feels solid and well-made. The base is sturdy, and it doesn’t wobble or tip over, even with pretty enthusiastic scratching. Scratching Surface: The rope has a good texture that my cat clearly prefers over other surfaces. It seems durable so far and hasn’t started unraveling. Assembly: Assembly was quick and simple. Everything fit together easily, and I was able to put it together without any hassle. Extra Features: The hanging toys are a nice bonus and helped get my cat interested in it right away. Overall Impression: This is a sturdy, tall scratching post that actually gets used. It’s a great option if you have an adult cat or one that likes to stretch while scratching. It’s also helped redirect attention away from furniture, which was the goal.

We got this because we may need to travel with our cats soon, and needed a compact, simple scratching post that was still tall enough to be useable in a hotel room, and could be easily broken down and reassembled for travel. This one was a good price for a scratching post that is tall enough to allow for a full stretch scratch for our cats. The colors also work with our decor, so we can use it at home, also. We went ahead and set it up at home, so we could make sure it wasn't defective or missing parts, and so that our cats could get used to it. It was easy to assemble, even though the paper that came it that had the instructions was kind of damaged. (See photos below.) I was surprised to find that the base was folded in half, instead of being one solid piece, but I guess that will make it more compact when disassembling it to pack up and load into the car. One of our cats already got interested in it as soon as I started unloading it from the box. (They always seem to know when something is for them.) No sooner did we get it set up then one of cats was already playing wildly with the mouse toy, then started clawing it vigorously, and then started climbing it. Pretty soon our other two cats came along to join the fun. (I tried to post a hilarious video of the three of them all getting wild with it at once, but I couldn't get my video to upload.) I was going to move it to the living room, but they wouldn't stay off of it long enough for me to have a chance to move it. I believe we can call this a win. A couple of minor criticisms: the post isn't actually all that stable if your cat(s) get wild with it, as ours did. I went into the bedroom and found it knocked over twice the evening we set it up. The first time, I just set it back upright, then found it knocked over again later, which suggests they were not deterred at all from using it, even though they had knocked it over. I thought the wide base would make it more stable, but I guess that's just a problem you would have with any freestanding single scratching post, especially a taller one, as opposed to a wider tree, that would have more structure, and an even wider base. (We have a couple of those, but they're not really suitable for taking for travel.) The other, more minor criticism is that the rope on it appears to be just that - rope. It does not appear to be sisal. However, it looks like it's probably just cotton rope, which should be fine for what we intend to be a temporary scratching post we use for travel, to keep the cats from destroying stuff in hotel rooms. I guess if they shred the rope before we need this, we can just buy some sisal to wrap around it. These are the only two reasons I didn't give this five stars. Other than that, it looks good, the cats like it, and I expect it will serve its intended purpose.

My cat loves the scratching post

I bought this white scratching post for my cat, and it has honestly become one of her favorite things in the house. The material is sturdy, well-made, and holds up great to daily scratching. She started using it almost immediately instead of my furniture, which is a huge win. 🤍 I also love how clean and modern the white color looks — it blends in nicely with my home decor instead of looking bulky or ugly. his Ahomdoo 34-inch cat scratching post has been a game changer. My cat took to it immediately and now leaves the furniture alone—finally! The height is perfect for a full stretch and scratch, which is exactly what cats need. The heavy-duty construction is no joke. It's incredibly stable and doesn't wobble or tip over even when my cat really goes to town on it. The base is weighted well and the overall build quality is solid. I was worried about it being flimsy, but this thing is built to last. The sisal material is high quality and holding up great even with daily aggressive scratching sessions. My cat is obsessed with it and uses it multiple times a day. It's clearly much more satisfying for her than the cheap posts I've tried before. Assembly was straightforward and it looks decent enough that I don't mind having it in my living space. The 34-inch height makes it functional for larger cats too. Best cat purchase I've made. Zack loves this scratching post! He's fussy! Buy this!
My Zack loves his new scratcher! He is engaged and happy when he stretches, scratches, and jumps on top. He loves the bird attachment. The post wiggles a little when he jumps on top but rights itself immediately, so it's pretty sturdy, sturdier than other, thinner posts. I will definitely buy again.
