Hi I'm Lena, CEO of Eco Peaceful, LLC. If you make your own food & drinks (tea/coffee, smoothies...) then mason jars are an important part of your daily life. What you may not know is that the common canning metal lids have a PVC/vinyl coating with a plastisol/PVC seal gasket. That has always bothered me since the liquid in the jar vapors and drops back down into my drink or food. I became especially concerned when I saw that the vinyl coating was flaking off just from putting vinegar in a glass jar (it was not even touching the coated metal lid). I was inspired to look for alternative lid solutions. Plastic caps lids are also not a good option since the plastic degrade and shed microplastics & release toxic chemicals; BPA-free is rarely truly BPA-free and/or replaced with worse chemical(s). Plastic lids are breakable, heat- sensitive (can't be boil to sanitize); and the most important for me - pollutes the environment and harms/kills wildlife. Using stainless steel lids with a silicone gasket also gives me peace-of-mind since they are built to last 'forever', so no need to be wasteful by constantly throwing away and buying metal or plastic lids.

Wonderful product. We do not can anything we just use the jars for storage. The lid fits very well. Easy to put on and remove. I do like not having to remove the ring then pop open the lid. They are a little bit expensive but I’m guessing that they will last longer than the original lids and being stainless steel I do not have to worry about rust ... show more

Absolutely brilliant design! Sturdy steel but not too heavy, the silicone liners fit perfectly and the tab makes for easy cleaning!! If you’re new to canning these are not intended for processing to preserve, but they are perfect for popping in the fridge or for air tight, pest protected storage of shelf stable stuff that just needs an oxy absorber. ... show more

Maybe silly but I shopped for a few weeks for wide mouth jar lids. I wanted lids that did not rust and I preferred no plastic. These are awesome - get them. I wanted stainless steel lids that did not have to have a silicone gasket (just an extra thing to clean). The lids do come with high quality silicone seals (great for storing liquid to allow for no leaks) but I can remove them for dry goods and the lids still screw on nice and tight. So they’re versatile. They have the classic look of canning lids but are more simple to use and store. Packaging was great too - no plastic. I really am so happy with them! Have had them for several months, washing both the lids and gaskets in the dishwasher (top rack), so far they have held up great (no rust or visible degrading of the silicone). Used on mason jars for my kids lunches. Since these seem to be good quality I will likely get the wide-mouth size next since I have those jars too and the canning lids they come with rust fast and the vinyl scratches off eventually. ... show more

So far these lids have been perfect for keeping my mason jars I use for kefir properly sealed. I made the switch to these when I noticed my other lids were rusting, which I wanted to prevent from contaminating the my food. These are rust-proof, so that totally handled that. They fit my regular mason jars perfectly as well. They are easy to grip and tighten or loosen and the seal seems to work great. It has a little protruding piece that you can pull to remove it and clean it easily, which is a nice touch. They are pretty durable and easy to use. Overall, I give it 4 stars. I want to use them a little longer before upgrading to 5, but they are on the way to achieving that - so far no complaints. ... show more

The silicone liner goes in between the lid and the jar, which works well to keep the liquids inside from contacting the metal. They are stainless steel which is of a better quality and less toxic than the lids/bands the jars come with. I will likely purchase more of these, I like how easy they are to clean and I didn't have any problems with leakage. ... show more
