This guitar beginner bundle came well packaged in a box within a box. It looks like a real guitar. And it sort of is if you don't look too closely. For seventy dollars, you can get any number of actual guitars these days. For one hundred, I can get you something that you can play and actually gig with if you're not too picky. First, the ancillary items: The picks are usable, the strap is too. The amplifier works well enough to be a low grade practice amp after you put a 9 volt battery in it. The cable works enough for a toy guitar. The gig bag is a dust cover without padding. And finally, the tuner. This tuner is in every beginner package. It is the same tuner in all of them. And this one worked better than most of them. It didn't sense the Low E or A strings, but it sort of got the D,G,B and High E strings in tune. Trying to tune any instrument, toy or real, with this tuner is a chore and no beginner should ever have to do it. And now, the guitar. The neck is dead straight and that's a good thing because there is no truss rod. The fret ends are sharp enough to cut you. Ask me how I know. Sharp fret ends should never be the norm on a kid's first guitar, but they always seem to be. Maybe include a cheap sanding sponge in the package. The tuners are as bad as any I've ever used. They have a lot of slop in them. The string action is high, which is also not good for beginners. But it's not the worst offender I've seen for action. I stretched the strings and tuned it up with my strobe tuner and got it to play like an actual guitar for about a minute. Cowboy chords sounded awful because the nut is cut very high. But barre chords didn't sound too bad until it again went out of tune. This is all quite disappointing because, like I said, the guitar body and color look like an actual guitar. The bridge is functional. At a 19 1/2 inch scale length it is super light. It should be a fun little guitar, but it is a whole lot of not fun. It wouldn't take much to make it better and I hope they will in the future. No beginner needs to be a luthier to make a starter guitar work.

The media could not be loaded. There were no items in the package that were missing or damaged. A mediocre electric guitar kit for beginners. There's nothing really that stands out as being great, but a few things do stand out for being not-so-great. The guitar itself looks fabulous, but be careful of the fret ends, and of course it's out-of-tune. There's a bit of a rattle on the bridge, so that's a shame. There is a tuner that comes with it, and it comes with a battery. Trying to tune this guitar for a beginner is not going to be a fun experience. The amplifier does not come with a 9-volt battery, and is okay. At higher volumes, it has a bit of noise. The bag isn't padded, so it's not going to protect the guitar very much.
