This breakout cable is a must have for your home studio. It solves several compatibility issues between 1/8 inch STEREO headphone outputs and devices that have 1/4 inch MONO inputs (or vice versa). The cable had no pops, buzzing, or squeals when in use. It's great for: Phone stereo headphones out, to mixer tracks 1 and 2, then out to power amp. Recorder mono tracks 1 and 2, into stereo mic input on phone or any other 1/8 inch stereo input. As reasonable priced and handy as this cable is I would recommend you get one just to have on hand. This is my second one. At some point there is a very high likelihood you will have an opportunity to use this and have it save the day.     • Good Looking Cable With a Wiring Issue

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I needed a nice long cable to connect a Zoom H4N line output signal to my audio recording gear. This one looked like it would do the trick nicely. The cable is braided and is quite flexible. The 1/4" left and right plugs are clearly labeled - even the insulators between tip and sleeve are color coded, with white for left and red for right. There's not much to say about the 1/8" end except that it looks to be well made. All connectors appear to have adequate strain relief. However, I am knocking off two stars for a mistake. The commonly accepted standard for a TRS connector is tip = LEFT channel, ring = RIGHT channel. This cable is reversed! I'll have to ignore the labels and remember this issue when connecting the thing. I can't comment on the reliability yet, but will report back with any problems in that department. ... show more
