Full body with a deep, rich, chocolaty flavor and a clean finish. Smooth milk chocolate with notes of honey, caramel and cocoa. 100% Arabica coffee, Non GMO, Certified Organic by CCOF. The slight caramelization of the natural sugars in the bean give this Medium-Dark coffee a touch of roastiness, while it still retains its natural flavor character, giving it a sweet, pleasant aftertaste with low acidity. 100% Arabica Coffee, GMO free, Certified Organic by CCOF. *Because of the Swiss Water Processing, the beans will appear darker than the level they are roasted to. Traditional Drip Machine: Add one level to slightly rounded measuring tablespoon (10g) of finely ground coffee (fine granular sand, not yet a powder) to each six ounce cup of water (177 ml) Hand Drip Method: Add 8-10 grams of medium-fine ground coffee per cup. Heat water to 190-195 degrees, (88-90.5 c) pre-soak grounds, slowly add water in a clockwise motion. Adjust to taste. French Press: Add 1-2 measuring tablespoons (10-20g) of coarse ground coffee per cup (177ml) of water and adjust to taste. Never add boiling water. Cold Brew: Steep equal amounts of coarse ground coffee and filtered water in a covered container for 12-24 hours, strain coffee out and use cheesecloth or a paper coffee filter to remove leftover grounds. Normally we purchase our organic decaf coffee beans at a small coffee shop in Montreal, Canada (we live in New York State near the border of Canada, so we visit Montreal frequently) because we find it very difficult to locate flavorful organic dark roast decaf coffee, despite years of searching. Due to the stay-at-home orders and border closures, we have been forced to search for a new coffee source since we can’t get to Montreal. During a recent Amazon search I found this organic decaf whole-bean coffee, so after reading other reviews, I decided to try a bag. Wow! What a lucky find!! This coffee is exactly as described...medium-dark roast (which proved very flavorful), extremely fresh, water-processed decaf, PLUS it’s a fair trade product sold at a fair price. Our order arrived promptly (even with the recent delays due to the Covid virus) and was well packaged. As soon as I opened the package, I was greeted with an amazing, rich aroma, and the cup of coffee it produced was equally delicious. Some reviewers expressed reservations since this coffee is not “Swiss Water Processed; however, I am unsure how much of a negative issue this is, but it certainly doesn’t impact the quality of this particular brew. We grind our beans rather fine as we brew our coffee with a single size Melita filter, but I imagine any brew method would yield a great cup of coffee from these beans. I have not drunk coffee, decaf or otherwise, for many years because I simply cannot handle caffeine. I used to drink decaf but even that adversely affected me to the point where I had to quite altogether. I researched the Swiss water bath method of decaffeination and thought I should be able to handle a coffee processed that way so-o-o-o I then researched coffees and settled on this one; I am absolutely blown away by how good this coffee is. It is so smooth and aromatic and non-acidic (as was their claim). . . . Tastes amazing! Way better than I could have imagined. I tested it by drinking two full cups on an empty stomach, which should have caused me to dash to the bathroom after being so unaccustomed to it but there was absolutely no effect whatsoever and no caffeine jitters, at all. Again, just blown away by this product. Oh, and the price is way better than so many other comparable products. Thank you Subtle Earth for making such a wonderful natural and organic product. This is the BEST cofee! You would never know it's decaf as it's so smooth and rich tasting. It's water processed and not chemically decaffeinated, which is important to us. We've also tried the regular whole bean organic coffee and really like it as well.

Overall happy with the taste but was unpleasantly surprised that you can't find a roast date on the package, there is some code stamp on the top of the bag but you can't infer what it means, that might mean they want to hide it, all high quality coffee provide that detail, this seller does not.

I travel full time and one of the downsides to it is that I am constantly searching for quality foods. Coffee has been an even greater challenge because I have removed caffeine from my diet but want quality, organic, whole-bean coffee. I almost always have to compromise on one or more of these desires when it's time to buy another bag. So, when I found this product, I didn't hesitate to try it. Admittedly, I did not have high hopes that it would be fresh at all. More often than not, when I successfully found organic whole-bean decaf in an enclosed bag in a supermarket, I got home and opened the bag to discover old, dry beans despite being well within the "best by" date. If that's their best, then, no thanks. Upon opening the bag for this product, I was immediately hit with a wave of fresh coffee smell before I had even looked in. Upon finding the beans freshly roasted and visually oily and yet not oily at all to the touch, I became excited like a child on Christmas morning to get a cup brewed and in front of me. It didn't disappoint. The flavor is rich and satisfying. The resealable bag sealed back up nicely. And, I find myself already looking forward to tomorrow morning. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I'm glad I finally found a source for coffee that I can get no matter where I go. Will definitely be buying all my coffee from here from now on. Just exactly as described, Rich, Smooth, Low Acid!!! Wow! I'm impressed!! I made an espresso shot then tried it straight. This is the real deal, smooth, low acid and rich flavor. It looks shiny but I dug into bean with fingers and fingers were not covered in any oil. The flavor is not of cigarettes as described by one buyer, it's a slight smoky flavor. I've been buying whole coffee bean for my espresso machine for seven years now. This is the best decaf I've ever tried! It will pair well with my Gustos Cafe Premium bean from Puerto Rico. The bean looks like a dark roast due to all decaf beans becoming dark and not green while in the soaking bath. I'm sold on the Swiss Water method. And the price is great! Not out of line with any other bean. Shipping was two days as promised. I have Amazon Prime so free shipping. Don't those beans look yummy in the picture!!     • Saved my coffee "life." I was drinking Lavazza espresso and it started getting more and more acidic

The Lavazza was even spoiling my coffee to the point it was undrinkable in my Contigo 24 oz hot container. I drank it for nearly 9 months and as of about 3 months ago, the roast was way off or the beans were potentially not the right quality. I had to stop drinking coffee, that I drink for the taste, not the caffein. Caffeine puts me to sleep anyway and my nurse told me to lay off altogether for at least a week to let my digestive system heal from the inflamation. I began my search for the best option that had less acid, no caffeine, organically grown and tastes great. It even seems to take less Steviva for it to be sweet enough for me. I use One Root Honey for my herbal tea and coffee at times and Lavazza always took more. I bought the 2 pound bag and before it even arrived, I ignored the bad review and ordered the 5 pound bag because we drink so much coffee -- usually 10 pounds a month. Love it and never going back to Lavazza. I hope they get their act together at Lavazza, it used to be a great coffee. First drank it in Italy 53 years ago and loved it till now. Never again. My new brand may be my favorite for the rest of my life. ... show more
