I have borrowed my neighbors’ weed rakes far too often. Now I have my own! This one is better than the other couple I have used. The rake and handle material is sturdier. The rake head is wider. It will last for the duration. Assembly is easy despite scant directions. They fail to tell you that the handle section which attaches to the rake head is the one with the slot at one end (now you know). The other handle sections are interchangeable. They fail to tell you which screws to use. The screws that attach the handle to the rake head are the long ones. The shorter ones attach the braces to the handles. The single shortest screw attaches the plastic grip to the handle. My only complaint is the rope they provide to clip the float to the rake head. The design is great, but the short piece of rope is practically unusable. It is too short. Worse, yet, it’s a twisted polypropylene rope. Anyone who has spent any time around the water knows that polypropylene twisted rope won’t hold a knot, particularly when it’s too short. I tossed it without even trying because I don’t want to be swimming after the float when the knot slips. I substituted an appropriate length of braided paracord. It’s a small matter, so still 5 stars. This is not the right season to be testing this rake, but the lake is still free of ice and there are still weeds, so I gave it a quick test. It tosses easily and pulls in smoothly. Excellent! This is going to make an annoying, time consuming task relatively quick and easy.

Style: 36 Inch Weed Lake Rake
This is a strong 3’ wide aluminum rake with an 11’ handle. It is easy to assemble (no instructions but tools provided) and pretty well made. It has a length of pool noodle to attach to the head to keep it afloat, and a 49’ lent of nylon rope to help control the rake when it is fully extended. (A pair of gloves is also included). It is an ingenious solution to pond cleaning and works well. I do have a few criticisms, however. 1) It is not clear how the flotation tube should be attached (I used a couple of zip ties) and it isn’t quite buoyant enough to keep the rake afloat. 2) The rope comes with plain ends; carabiners or similar would have been nice for quick attachment when needed. 3) Despite tightening the bolts firmly, I lost one after just a week. Lock nuts or spring washers would be helpful. I’ve now added my own. 4) There were also a few burrs on the tube ends. The handle is made up of 4 interlocking sections secured by pip pins. Thus they are quick and easy to disassemble and the rake can be shortened by omitting one or more sections (each section adds 31”). When thus shortened, the rake is strong enough for general gardening tasks (the 11’ pole is also very useful for retrieving kids toys from roofs!) So a good product that could be improved further.

This is well built and I can't wait to use it. I have used something like this before so I know it will work, but I ended up ordering it at the end of the season and the lilypads died off before I got out there. I plan to get out there as soon as they start to grow back in the spring so I can cut them off when they start. THis is a good value because name brand products with the same features cost 2-3x more.

It's well constructed rake made of sturdy alumnium material. It's quite wide, and the length can be extended by adding more bars. I use two bars for landscaping, but it comes with 4 bars in total, including a long rope for use on water. All the tools for assembly are included, and the installation is not difficult, except that the instruction manual has very low resolution photos so it's not clear which orientation the screws and nuts go, although not hard to figure out. Overall, very sturdy and big for raking large areas. They should improve the photos in the instruction manual though.

This is an amazing rake. It's huge and a high quality item. Every summer our lake gets covered by floating algae and I rake every day with a normal rake. It takes hours and it's never done. With a rake like this, I can do it 4 times faster. Raking soil will be a breeze too and probably leaves as well (thankfully I don't have many of those!). This is a really ultimate rake and my dream come true.
