Back in the late 1980s these were very popular... and I remembered them one sleepless insomniac night. I found just watching videos of the falling sand helped me to relax and go to sleep. Fast forward a few paychecks and I've finally ordered a large, hinged rotational one that I've eagerly awaited. It Looks Nice. Just as I had hoped. Not too fancy, but I think the sun and moon backgrounds are a nice backdrop to the falling sands designs. ..... BUT .... I noticed mine came with a piece of plastic or rubber stuck in between the background and the pane of sand/water. And I can't get it out bc they are sealed (hot glued) together. So... I will have to return and purchase another one as I'm not messing with a >$100 item to try and fix it myself. ... show more

I was excited to receive this, and while I have nothing hanging on my living room walls, I hung this up because it looked so cool in the sales video. I figured it’d be like an hour glass works, flip it over, and the sands rain down, slowly, at an calming rate…it does not, there’s an oil inside, I assume to keep the sand moist, and once you spin it, it all turns into a brown blob, ( mine is orange ), and it rushes down to the bottom in mere seconds.
