I bought 2 boxes for my 2 granddaughters. They loved it. They immediately started making trinkets on Christmas day. It takes a little practice to get the right level of hammering to imprint successfully into the metal and to get the lettering in a decently straight line. So the 1st couple of trinkets came out unsatisfactory. However, the 2 girls got better. My only quibble is that there are too few metal pieces - bracelets, necklaces, tags, chain. Yes, the letter are super small, but I fixed that by rubbing them on some chalk to make the letters more pronounced. My teenager enjoyed the project and will be able to continue using the hammer, pliers and stamps (which have their own case with a top) with other projects. The instructions are straight forward and the pictures made it even easier to follow. A friend of mine that is an occupational therapists saw this project and felt that it would be perfect for older kids that need fine motor exercises/activities. Bought for 9 yr old girl. The size of the stamp letters is small. She got frustrated with it not being easy to stamp. Maybe with some practice she will get better. I guess for a starter kit it is good.

In case anybody read my first review about this being twice bought, twice returned; that was in error. My kid found the missing item after she was SUPPOSED to be in bed. *SIGH* Kids, right... Well disregard all bad reviews from me, the product is complete, all parts accounted for, and it gets 5-star since she will be using it. She was disappointed when she lost the earring piece.     • Misleading photos and unrealistic results - avoid!

I bought this for my daughter, but after using it we both feel it is a total ripoff. First, the so-called “mallet” is a small toy hammer more suited for a 7 year old. It doesn’t deliver enough force to create a deep impression as shown in the product photos. The stamping base is too small, and because it’s rubber feet elevate it off the working surface, each hammer blow causes it to vibrate, resulting in “ghost letters” due to small movements of the stamp between hammer blows. Furthermore, some of the charms are stamped out of stainless steel, which is much too hard a material for creating deep impressions with the provided hand tools. There are only 9 charms included in the set, not nearly enough to practice and in my opinion a poor value for the price paisley. Finally, the straight, even, aligned letters portrayed in the product photos are extremely misleading. These professional-looking results cannot be achieved without using additional tools such as a fixture, jig, and clamps. Bottom line, while the quality of the set is not in dispute, the execution is terrible and creates unrealistic expectations with misleading photos, descriptions, and instructions. From initial enthusiasm and joy, using this set instead resulted in a frustrated father and disappointed child. I will regrettably be returning it. ... show more
