  • Zapper charge lasts
Great purchase, solar charge lasts all night.

  • Interesting Mix of Tech and Simple
I should start by saying that this bug zapper works great. The first night we had it set up, you would see this flash and zap out of the corner of your eye out on the lawn and it was quite nifty. We have nuked a sizeable number of Junebugs and an assortment of moths and mosquitos, so far, and hopefully many more to come. Considering assembly: There are directions included, but it's fairly straightforward. Considering the size of this bug zapper, I don't know why you would want to hang it up, but a chain is included if you wanted to hang it somewhere. Additional extended cables are also included if you wanted to put the solar panel elsewhere. The solar panel itself looks quite fancy and high tech, in that you can see everything and the wiring and it's not a simple black plastic rectangle. Dunno if that actually makes it better or not, but it certainly looks good. The actual bug zapper is one piece, comes partly charged, with a switch to select OFF, only-night, or all-day options. In itself, it looks quite nice and the blue is bright enough to attract insects without being so bright you have to shut the shades. Everything else is weirdly simple. The legs to mount it are just tubes, and they slide into empty sockets. The tubes slide into plastic lawn spikes, but not firmly, so when the plastic ages, I am confident it the spikes will break and I will have to mount it another way. The solar panel attaches to two brackets, screwed into the side of the bug zapper, and attached with bolts and butterfly nuts. Again, very low-tech. I had to screw these down reasonably firmly, as the first heavy rainfall spun the solar panel around. One moderately sunny day and the internal battery was fully charged, and it's been running every night since. It's a little on the pricy side for a bug zapper, but it works well, stays charged, and looks good. ... show more

  • Effective Mosquito Control With Minimal Maintenance
"LANGY 20W Solar Bug Zapper" has been running in my yard continuously for several weeks, powered primarily by the solar panel. My goal was reducing mosquito activity around outdoor seating areas, and it has been surprisingly effective at keeping the population down. The first thing I noticed was how active the unit stayed after dark. The occasional sharp snap from the grid makes it obvious that insects are being attracted and eliminated rather than the light simply serving as decoration. After several humid evenings when mosquitoes are usually relentless, the patio became noticeably more comfortable to use. Normally I would be swatting mosquitoes constantly, but after letting the zapper run nonstop, there was a clear reduction in the number buzzing around the seating area. It does not create a bug-free force field, but it definitely shifts the balance in your favor. The solar charging system has worked well for my setup. I have left it outdoors full time without needing to bring it in for charging. The extension cord for the solar panel also helps when the best location for sunlight is different from the best location for insect control. One operational detail worth mentioning is cleaning. There is no removable collection tray. Instead, the easiest method is to shut the unit off and hose it out at an angle to wash the debris out. It is not difficult, but it is a little messier than designs with a dedicated catch tray. The main limitation is one shared by most UV bug zappers. They are not selective. Mosquitoes and flying termites are exactly what I wanted to target, but the unit will inevitably catch some harmless insects as well. There is a slight sense of guilt when you see the results, even though it is doing exactly what it was designed to do. ... show more

  • Outstanding!
Wow, this thing really kills a lot of bugs! After moving the solar panel to the top of the wall for better sun exposure, it charges fully and runs strong thanks to the large 10Ah battery. It's bright and powerful like it's on full turbo mode. It has done an amazing job clearing out mosquitoes. We haven't seen a single one since we started using it. Pros: - Extremely effective at killing mosquitoes and other bugs. - Strong 20W solar charging with large 10Ah battery. - Bright and powerful performance. - Waterproof and built for outdoor use. - Includes handy Extension cord. - Automatic on/off is convenient. - Great for yard, patio, camping, or RV. Cons: - None so far. Highly recommended! This has been a game changer for our outdoor space. ... show more

  • The Bug Zapper That Shows Up Ready to End the Nighttime Drama
This 20W solar zapper brings serious outdoor authority—bright, tough, and powered by a 10,000mAh battery that keeps the fight going long after sunset. The waterproof build handles weather without flinching, the coverage is wide enough to calm down a whole patio, and the solar charging means you’re not babysitting cables. It’s the kind of zapper that clocks in, gets to work, and makes your yard feel instantly more peaceful. ... show more

  • *VERY* impressed
This bug zapper looks kind of like a toy or gimmick at first glance, but it proved itself and left a trail of dead mosquitos and moths that I would expect from a hard wired zapper. The solar panel isn't that big, but it gets plenty of light that even in partial shade gets the battery fully charged hours before sunset. The zapper seems to last all night, and you will surely find it full of bugs in the morning. The long cord for the solar panel means you can put it in the best spot and you can put the zapper in its own best spot. Ideally you will set the zapper far away from places you hang out because it is a bug attractant. I'm very impressed, and not even mad they put a 25% off coupon immediately AFTER I ordered this (try to pay under $90 for this zapper). The only minor gripe is the bottom housing is solid and collects bugs, where other zappers I've used either give you a way to open the bottom or the bottom is a mesh and lets the bugs drop out. Also, a lot of mounting options are included in the box, so you can position it however you want. ... show more

  • Helps Keep Mosquitos and Flies at Bay, Best on Mode 2 if you don't run direct power to the zapper
These can make quite the difference in helping to keep your mosquito and fly population lower than it otherwise would be. I run fly traps outside too, and I've noticed about half as many in the traps this time of the year thanks to this zapper. What I REALLY like about these is that you can mount these anywhere, as long as your zapper's solar panel has access to the sun for a few hours a day. Pay special attention to where the trees are, having an unobstructed view of the sky for at least 6-8 hours helps to keep the battery charged. I run mine on mode "two" - which means it is off during the day and on at night. So far I haven't had to recharge, though I did fully charge it before installing it the first time. If you have a LOT of bugs you may need to use a garden hose to spray off the bugs every week or two, but that's easy enough. They do include a small plastic brush in case you want to do this manually. ... show more

  • Well designed works great
So my wife put this thing together when it showed up to her less than 5 minutes basically all you have to do is put the solar panel on the roof, then it sets on these four spiked legs I just took it out and set it on the legs and then push them down into the ground with my weight while it was attached worked pretty well. It's pretty stable it doesn't weigh very much so hold itself up well you would have to have larger animals or something bumping into it to knock it over they only caveat to that is it does just sit down on top of the legs it is a tight fit through the plastic holes but it doesn't really lock in place by any means so a real strong wind from the bottom side could potentially lift it up off the legs and knock it over but it would have to be a very strong wind. It charges throughout the day and seems to gain just enough charge from that to run all night till the next morning even on very cloudy and overcast days. It works very well soon as I flip the switch on bugs came swarming towards it to get zapped. I do wish it had a removable bottom tray to dump the bugs easily but I guess you can just lift it off the legs and do that every so often. It is come with an extension cord for the solar panel if you want to put it in a different location, however it's probably a good idea to put it on the roof as it also acts as a weather Shield. Great deal for a bug zapper that doesn't use any electricity at least not any I have to pay for. ... show more
