I'm not a fan of the price of Macbooks but if you can get past that, this truly is a great laptop. It's very fast and powerful. This is my main work computer, and I run lots of software throughout the day, such as Word and Excel, but also several browser windows with many tabs open, Slack, and Zoom with no problems at all. I also do video editing (Da Vinci Resolve) while everything else is running and still no loading issues. This is my first Mac with an M chip and I was worried I might run into software compatibility issues but I was able to transfer everything from my Intel-based Macbook to this one seamlessly. This has three USB-C ports and each one is capable of charging the computer or connecting to an external monitor, which is great. But this also has a proprietary charging port if you need an extra USB-C port and it has an HDMI port if you want to use that for a monitor. The charging cable also connects magnetically, which is nice because it'll pop right off if you accidentally trip over the wire. There's also an SD port, which is awesome for me since I do a lot of photo and video editing work. It's so much easier to pull the SD card out of my camera and download media to the computer or to another hard drive. I ordered the 16" model after using a 14" model for years and it took me a while to get used to it. This computer is much larger and felt way oversized for several weeks but I eventually got used to it. I still miss my old 14" laptop for portability though because it was smaller and much lighter. I still haven't taken this computer out with me because it's big and I'd rather just leave it at home. But the benefits of a larger screen is a huge plus. On the smaller Mac, I couldn't split screen and work out of two windows. The 16" model makes split screen possible, so I don't always need an external monitor. I'm far more productive with this screen. Another drawback of the size is the large hand rest area. I have to reach much further to reach the keys and my wrists rest on the edge of the laptop, which is a little uncomfortable. I wouldn't say one size is better than the other, just that each one has its benefits. The screen is huge. I have another 15.5" PC laptop and the screen on this Mac feels so much larger, because the bezel on the edges is very thin. Very little space is wasted here. The speakers are great and that's one thing I've always loved about Macbooks over PC laptops (or at least the ones I've owned). I have three other Windows machines and the speakers are terrible and sound tinny. But the audio on this Macbook feels like you're surrounded by the sound and everything sounds crisp and clear. You can hear the bass. The camera is pretty good, and much better than previous models (such as the 2019 model I previously used). It's not amazing and you'lll probably still want to use an external camera for higher quality video calls, but this camera is still surprisingly good. Bought this 2021 MacBook Pro M1 16 inch. it was sold as excellent condition and that was proven wrong from the moment it arrived. 1st it arrived in a Fedex express box with no other packaging besides a bubble wrap container that it slides into. Okay enough I do not expect to get a brand new computer in a brand new apple box. So I remove the laptop from the bubble wrap and the issues start right away. Remember this was sold as excellent condition computer there is a good size dent in the screen lid. right in the Botton near the hinge which would be the worst place to have one. The screen works but I would imagine this puts added stress to the screen which any other small impact could possibly make a pressure crack. The lid of the computer also has a decent scratch. This is why the previous owner must have put a skin on the top. Oh yeah I know they had a skin because the top of the computer is still full of adhesive from them removing it.The bottom of the computer is covered in small scratches. This does not bother me as it's possible this is from the last person not having a skin on the bottom. But there is a deep large scratch on the bottom of the computer as well. Then the screen. Although it is not broken it does have this weird dotting appearance like someone used something they shouldn't have to clean it at one point and it also has this weird thing happening around the outside edges of the screen. Kind of looks like it's separating or someone maybe had a screen protector on it at one point. Maybe that could have caused the weird issues with the screen as well. I have messaged the company to see what they can do about this since it's far from the Excellent grade they said it was. Not just by my opinion but by what amazon has listed as "excellent condition". I have started using the computer in the mean time to see if it has any other issues because reaching a conclusion with the company. As the how the computer works I've only have it in my hands for about an hour but so far amazing. super fast looks amazing despite the constantly dirty looking display and very smooth. Love the computer as a whole. I will try to update with how the conversation with the seller and the battery and long term use of the computer go. ... show more
