  • Every home should have one
My water heater went out, which I was not financially prepared for. I also didn’t have a home warranty (something else everyone should have). Thankfully it’s summer & cold showers are not terribly uncomfortable. I finally decided to try this because I was a bit skeptical and didn’t really want to wait for the water to heat up. I let it do it’s thing for the two hours as recommended in the instructions. I had to add cold water to get in the tub. I found the digital thermometer after my bath, which was a nice surprise. I may buy another as a backup & to keep one in the kitchen. Hopefully the water heater will last the rest of my life but I’d rather be prepared. ... show more

  • It gets the job done.
I have a friend who recently moved into a tiny home that she's in the process of building herself. She has electricity, but no hot water. Eventually she'll have a propane fueled tankless water heater installed, but that may be months away, so she wants a temporary solution that will allow her to take a bath. So there's the context. I thought this might be enough for that purpose. Maybe not quite what it's designed for, but it could work. It's cheap enough I bought one just to test it out, if it works I'll give it to her, if not no big loss. First, it isn't 2000W. Your standard US 15A outlet can't put out that much power. I'm not sure where they get that number from, but I measured it with my Kill-A-Watt to be 1513W, so it would be better described as 1500W. I was not surprised or disappointed by this because I knew it couldn't be true before I bought it. Still, I took off 1 star for the misleading description. The test involved my 44 gallon plastic tub. Typical for a master suite in a home built in the US in recent decades. I hung the heater from the faucet fully immersed in the water, plugged it in, and checked the temperature periodically. I knew it would take a long time, but wasn't sure how well insulated the tub was, or how much heat would be lost to evaporation, so I wasn't sure what the maximum eventual temperature this setup could reach. It started at 51.6F. The hope was that it excede 105F which is a decently high bath temperature, which it did achieve at about 6.5 hours. I let it go for a bit over 10 hours and it got up to 113F, which is definitely too hot for me. My best estimate based on a curve fit and projection is that it would eventually get to about 130F, which I think is hotter than my water heater puts out, but that might take a few days. This is in my bathroom with the door closed. Tub insulation, room ventilation, and ambient temperature will all effect this. So I think she can use this for a few months. Fill the bath in the morning, and have a nice afternoon/evening bath. ... show more

  • Works great
We use this water heater to heat up water for showering when we had no gas in our complex. I would greatly recommend anyone that needs to keep water up quickly.

  • Almost worked like a dream
This heater couldn’t quite cut it for my inflatable hot tub. It tried really hard, but I’m convinced no extra heater can compete with cold air bubbles. Also don’t drop the digital reader in water… it isn’t waterproof! Otherwise easy to use and very safe!

  • It needs to say what size of above ground pool
I tried to heat my above ground pool and it didn't do a very good job but in a 5 gallon bucket it did a real good job in about 5 min

  • Not 2K watts but ok
As others have mentioned, this is false advertising as there is no way that 2k watts at 120 VAC would add up to what I'm reading on a line splitter with an amp clamp. It does warm water. I'm using it to thaw a pool, running in excess of 2 days, thus far. Even using a commercial 12/3 - 9'extension cord, the female cord end is warm. Not excessive, but it wants more power than a standard 15A plug will provide ... show more
