I’ve ordered the 60pk three times so far. Out of the 180 plates I bought, 2 or less were broken on arrival total. I’ve also never had a contamination problem, so they’re definitely sterile (or at least all of mine have been). They’re a bit expensive compared to other sources to buy from, I know, but I’ve kept buying them because I don’t have to worry about sterility or many being broken during shipping. ... show more

    • Fragile, incorrectly packed into sleeves

I have 2 main complaints: 1) A plate cracked under my thumb where I was gripping it to wrap it with Parafilm. Be gentle with these. 2) My box arrived with 4 sleeves of 10 plates each. I have used 2 sleeves. In each of these, there was one plate where the plate was upside down compared to the lid which meant there was no way to take the plate out of the sleeve and maintain sterility when working on a bench. I was as careful as I could be and luckily I had no contamination with these plates. However, this is the kind of packaging error that can create contamination issues in the lab and that means the 10% rate for this problem (in my box at least) is unacceptable in my opinion. The plates I got are definitely sterile. I have not had any of the sterility issues that some of the other reviewers have reported. I used these plates with potato dextrose agar to grow mycelium, which means I did not use any antifungal agents in my growth medium. ... show more

I really like these but I’ve had contamination in about a fifth of these. I do use a flow hood but recently I’ve been double sterilizing them just to be on the safe side which has reduced my contamination percentage. Great price point!

People complain that disposable plates are flimsy... hence 'disposable'. These were packed really well, not a single plate was damaged in shipping. Also, the plates came in a sealed plastic bag. I will continue to buy this product.
