I've backpacked in the Sierras for more than a couple decades. I own more backpacking tents than I care to admit...looking for the perfect tent...but there isn't one because there are always tradeoffs...usually weight/price related. Like many backpackers, reducing the weight one carries is important. This is a very good tent for what it is. Yet I feel compelled to point out this tent has it's limitations. It's walls are water resistant, not water proof. If you have any expectation you'll encounter more than a very brief shower you should spray the whole thing with a "Scotchguard" waterproofing type product (several coats). Also true old school "rain flys" would cover the whole tent, not just the ceiling vent. Tents do not provide "warmth" (or even insulation) since their wall materials are essentially almost "paper thin" to save weight. Depending on their construction they can provide shelter from wind, precipitation, bugs and small critters....plus they provide privacy. Now to this tent's design, it's "rain fly" DOES prevent rain from entering the tent's ceiling vent but even more importantly it ALSO lets moisture (water vapor) from your respiration(breathing) to escape instead of condensing on the inside of the tent's walls overnight....without the vent the inside of your tent and everything in it could(would?) be coated in moisture/condensation the next morning. In my experience it's good to leave the tent's fabric door (not screen door) open a bit to help the air flow through the ceiling vent keeping the inside moisture/humidity lower. Remember the tent doesn't keep you warm, that's what your clothes and sleeping bag are supposed to do....different subject for a different time. It's also not a 4 season tent, depending on where you live it's best as a late spring to early fall tent. This was a birthday gift for my 12 year old cousin and she loves it. She and her 9 year old sister put it together in less than three minutes. They put it in her bedroom and slept in it the night she received it. Obviously the tent stakes were not needed this time so she stored them in the pocket, located on the inside of the tent. The zipper is flimsy and looks like it will break easily so I have forewarned the girls to be cautious when zipping. Although it is an inexpensive tent, I feel the zipper could have been a little more durable, even at this price, so I deducted one star for this reason only. Otherwise the tent will be used by her until it falls apart or she outgrows it, whichever happens first. She will use this at baseball games during the summer and camping in the yard and take it along to picnics at the creek and at the beach. It is lightweight and small. She stands almost five feet and the tent floor is perfect for her height. It fits only two kids or two small adults. It will not fit tall people or larger than average folks. I would buy this again for other children. It needs to be sealed at the seams for rainy-outdoor usage. ... show more

Update: Found a manufacturing defect where the seam in one corner of the bathtub floor is incomplete. Not torn, they just missed with the sewing machine. Order with enough lead time to set it up at home and inspect it before taking it out to the campsite. This tent is a simple 2-pole dome, easy to set up by oneself. It's just barely large enough for me (5'7") and a duffel bag; it's a "2-person" tent only if you have two people who don't care for personal space and have no gear. Or, if the two people in question are 3 years old. This tent was purchased to be a play tent of larger footprint and greater durability than the play tents available - as a bonus it's cheaper and suitable for outdoor use. My twins fit into it with plenty of room for a great many of their toys, and they can stand up inside (taller of the two is 40 inches). For actual camping/outdoor use: it has a bathtub floor so it should remain dry. There's a teeny tiny rain fly that could be mistaken for a gear loft if you are accustomed to fully featured tents. There are two small vents at the top that the rain fly protects, and the door has a mesh layer to act as additional ventilation if needed. The waterproof layer of the door has a wide flap to protect the zipper from rain intrusion since it's not protected by the rain fly. Overall, ventilation may be a concern when the door is fully closed; might end up with condensation on the inside. There's a small bag included with aluminum stakes, but no bag for the poles. Overall, this tent is a good option for 1 average-or-shorter adult who needs a cheap tent for infrequent use, or a great option for a play tent for kids. ... show more

I got this for my nephew. Right now we can only do back yard camping and bedroom camping. There hasn't been alot of chance for weather damage, but It handles some rough treatment. My nephew loves it. It's his little fort, his hide out. It us constantly up in his room. He likes sleeping in it. I thought he would like it, but this is a whole other level than what I expected. It is easy to put together for me. Kids not in the double digits might have a little trouble. It is well put together and can pack up quite small. You could disassemble and shove it under a couch or in a closet to get it out of the way. ... show more

Son got this tent for Christmas and the second time we used it the pole snapped. It always seamed like the tent pole was too long or the tent was not sewn together square and cause extra stress on one pole. Also stated it comes with a rain fly , I think that small flap is what they consider the small piece of fabric at the top. It doesn’t stop rain from coming in the tent . It was for my son to play with at the house I have real tents for camping but even for the price on this one I expected it to hold up for much longer. ... show more
